How so?

​@@jonjohnson102 Angle heads on spindle creates artificial Z axis that complicates operations severely, also makes continuous 5-axis work way more difficult as following surfaces makes the other axis have to travel a whole lot to follow along, can severely impact visibility. Chip evacuation is also impacted, as bad as a true vertical mill when milling from above. Spindle also becomes a issue as it needs to have either direct drive with a motor that is set inside of the bearing housing, so a spindle replacement becomes more expensive to do on-site and more difficult and prone to breakdowns after repair. Alternative is to have the engine separately with a bevel gear system but that also has issues. Angle head also makes it so you need more linear axis travel in one of the axis to have same sort of access volume in all orientations vs table-table configuration. Stiffness is also reduced on horizontal type machines using angle head when machining in directions that are odd relative to the load bearing structure. fixed spindle orientation machines are typically larger, but overall a lot more robust and more operator/programming friendly. Spindle assemblies can be longer, and can split unit into bearing cartridge and motor cartridge kept separately. New fad among machine tool builders has been the move to angle head type as they're cheaper to produce, but @ss to use.
