A Beautiful Mess | Extreme Cleaning

A Beautiful Mess | Extreme Cleaning

Күн бұрын

I am helping this family of 6 by cleaning their home for free after years of neglect due to the after effects of some health complications and bankruptcy. In 2014, after giving birth to her youngest child, Mom had an amniotic fluid embolism (AFE) and nearly died from this rare complication. She went into a coma and had some anoxic brain damage. Some of the long-term effects of this include neurologic impairment, memory loss, emotional and psychological effects, PTSD, anxiety, and depression. Because of this, it has been difficult for her to manage day to day things like she used to and Dad had to try to pick up the slack, but when he had a mitral valve prolapse and went into cardiac arrest in December 2021, he, too, had long-term effects from this, causing things to become even harder to manage around the house. They have many other challenges as well so, when they reached out for help, I was more than happy to give them a hand with getting things back under control.

This was definitely one of the more rewarding experiences I had because the family was so invested in getting their home back in order, especially the mom. I was so proud of the steps she took to get things organized, even in between the times I was there. I was able to deliver a donated couch around Christmas time last year to replace all of those broken chairs, and she was so proud to show me how she had kept up her home. It did look really nice.😊

@@LC-38338 In that case, I don't think she would qualify because she can dress and bathe just fine. I think with the family helping to clean, she will be okay, especially now that the kids are getting older. And I forgot that they had mentioned looking for a couch at the thrift store that their son works at, so I know if they go that route, there will be no bedbugs or other things they are bringing into their home as the thrift store checks for those kinds of things.

I am so happy that I found your channel yesterday! I really enjoy watching you clean, it motivates me, as I am currently putting my life back in some kind of order after battling lung cancer! You truly inspire me, I love that you help these families for many different reasons. When I was a teenager I babysat many children for many different families. Once the children were in bed asleep, I would tidy up the house. Such as cleaning the dishes, sweeping floors, wiping down the counters, tidy up the living room and do laundry if they had some that needed to be done. The families would be so happy and thankful when the got home. They would say we don't have anything extra to pay you, I always told them that it wasn't expected. I did it because I enjoyed it... To this day I still enjoy helping people. It makes me feel good to do things for those that need a helping hand! Blessings to you and your husband! There should have been some support for that mother besides overloading dad. Church, SSI, insurance, family, something. I don't know exactly what happened right after the AFE, but I'm sure there was probably a lot of help initially from church/family/friends and then slowly things build up and it becomes the "norm" and then it's hard to ask for help once it gets to a certain point because it can be embarrassing. But you're right, it is hard for the other parent to take on so much when something like this happens. I think they are in a better space now. The oldest daughter is 19 and was really helping a lot and also getting her room cleaned up as well, so hopefully that keeps up!

Wow, what a huge amount of work you did there! I'm glad you showed us your sorting categories; that's something most don't explain. Music is ok, but on many people's videos it's way too loud, and drowns out the voice-overs. I feel bad for the children who were living in that disaster. You are an angel to help. I would love to see you do the whole house. I'm glad the family was helping. Thank you for all you were doing! I'm so sorry about your sweet dog. That's heartbreaking to lose our loved ones. ❤

Thank you! I actually have three more videos of this house, so I do clean more than this living room. One is already out, called Teen Room Takeover where I help their ADHD son get his room back in order. This coming week is the oven cleaning I mentioned in this video, and the week after that will be the rest of the kitchen. I spent a total of 41 hours at this home and will be going back for a few hours another day because I told her I would come back to help with the rest of the kitchen after she went through a bunch of boxes and totes that were in there because a lot of it was papers that I wouldn't know what to do with. And thanks for your condolences. Yesterday was really hard. The hardest part is over, now it's time to heal.❤

@@ABeautifulMessExtremeCle-zl1wp I too am very sorry for the loss of your dog,our pets take up a lot of real estate in our hearts. I wanted to make a suggestion about the playlist titles. I’m sure many of us like to know that we’re watching the same house in the various videos,however,I already watched the teen room take back and thought it was part of the family who had to move out because of the carpet bugs. I think that if you kept the same initial title and then put Part Two,Part Three,etc.,we would be able to follow along better. Or keep the same title about the AFE survivor but then put “Teen’s Room Takeback”. Hope this makes sense and doesn’t come across as rude.

If I were still teaching a Life Skills course at high school I’d show videos like these and discuss how a house would get like this, then ask the students how they would tackle a similar house. It would teach basic cleaning skills, prioritising, checking use-by dates, considering pets, etc, etc.
@ABeautifulMessExtremeCle-zl1wp
@ABeautifulMessExtremeCle-zl1wp Жыл бұрын
They are very important skills and it doesn't come naturally to everybody. I've thought about making a course on how to clean pretty much everything step by step. There's probably already something out there like that, but you can't have too much teaching in this area. I love to share those kinds of skills. And I think that's awesome that that is a course in high school now. It's so needed!

I have difficulty throwing away a pencil. As a kid we had one pencil that the whole family used. It was on the kitchen table and it was used for homework, lists, budgets, wages, whatever. If it wasn’t returned there everyone was upset. This was in the late 50’s and early 60’s, seems crazy now but that’s how it was. Good job Bonnie. Thank you.🙂

Yeah, there's a lot of stuff that I forget to mention until after the video is uploaded. Plus, sometimes it's hard to keep track of the hours, especially when I'm there for several days and I can't remember how much time I spent in each room. I would estimate the total time I spent at this house was 45 to 50 hours, probably about 15 to 18 hours of that was in this living room.😊

Hi Bonnie I'm a new subscriber and I just love your videos. I'm actually in New Zealand and I raised my 2 sons on my own while working full time and my home resembled this at times! Oh my gosh I had those exact same totes each full of the SAME stuff because every time i had visitors I would chuck anything lying around into a tote/basket/cardboard box. I'm sorry to hear about your dog, my beautiful old boy also had to be put down a few months ago. I hope yours and your family's hearts are healing. Sending love from New Zealand.

That's kind of how this homeowner described how the same types of things got into all the different totes. She said that she was just sick of the mess lying around and so she threw everything into multiple different totes and obviously didn't sort it before she did that so there were just a whole bunch of totes of all the same types of things. Thanks for watching from New Zealand!😊❤️
