The tip about snipping the ban roll for curved hems is genius!! The bridesmaid dress I'm working on has a slight train so the hem has a curve. The narrow hem foot is stressful and my results are inconsistent. This technique is a game changer!

Great video! Explains how to sew with ban roll perfectly. I buy this by the 50 yard roll. Just finished a 5 layer wedding dress, brides maid dresses, 2 military ball dresses and countless costumes. It gives such a clean,perfect hem even on the curves. I use my zipper foot to sew it on.

@@HandmadeCreations I purchase it on Amazon. I believe Amazon has smaller quantities for sale but I use so much of it I buy by the roll. .

How would you hem fabric that frays, like Indo or Pongee lining?

do you think drywall tape mesh would work the same way? ban roll is so expensive

It is expensive but you can reuse it for years. I’ve never tried to pull the edge on drywall mesh … does it ravel easily? Also, is drywall mesh as smooth as ban-roll to allow it to be removed easily from delicate fabrics without catching? How well does it hold up after using several times? Since it is not as expensive maybe try it on several types of fabric scraps and see how it works.
