A lot of people are flaming for the price and saying you will have to put a lot of money into it like people dont buy them for 15-20k and have to still put a lot of money into them. At the end of the day you are still up.

I have owned an '03 SL55 since new. It has been brilliant. The problem with these cars as they depreciate is that the buyers of $10K cars, can't afford or won't spend the money to make them correct. As time goes on, fewer and fewer cars that are well cared for will be around.

One day in the distant future people will stumble across a tombstone that has Tavarish's name, dates of birth & death, and the quote "It's actually not that bad."

Apart from the legendary 300 SL Gullwing the R230 SL is my favourite generation. There are so many cool improvements you can make to this vehicle. You can go the Brabus look, SL Black Series convertible look, SLR McLaren look, wrap it in German Racing Silver, update the key fob to the latest generation. It's up to you in the end. In any case this is still a cool car.

Hey Tavarish, i have a 2003 CL55 AMG and i also had a leak coming from around the engine bay, it leaked towards the bottom of the car around where yours is coming from, it ended up being the suspension pump,the pump has a plastic cover inside the pulley assembly and it cracked on mine and thats where the oil was coming from,the ABC tandem pump, pretty expensive brand new and real hard to replace, did it my self so i saved quite a bit of money doing it, check the oil that is dripping, the oil dosent smell like engine oil or transmission fluid, its a different burnt kind of smell to it.

Tavarish: I have a 2006 SL500, which is similar, and I have fixed several things. Since you have to close the trunk lid hard (earlier video), you likely have a leak in the latch mechanism, and the fix is described here

Turn car off.. Disconnect the battery...Pump the gas 9 times and flash the high beams 2 times and then get out the car and run around it 4 times, then do the hooky pooky and turn your self around.. Then reconnect the battery and start the car and BAM its fixed

Got to be a paintless dent removal if possible on that rear quarter. With the car being in such a good condition elsewhere Bondo would be a crime.
