Since I was a young kid, Toyota is always a very dependable truck or car. I had a 1991 Toyota celica, that was my first car when I was stationed in Hawaii as a new grunt. Spent 3 there and 9 years in fort hood, my car was very reliable and didn’t have any major issue with it. I understand what the main engineer goals and fully understand what his mission is. Give a very reliable truck with very good updates, towing stability, and much more. I like the way he thinks, take some of the good things, from every flat form. Combine it all and minor adjustments, and there you have it. I would like to own one. By the way y’all, good morning from San Antonio Texas.

I appreciate what the guy says about towing. Just because another truck has 300lbs or 1000lbs on you, doesn’t mean it’s fun doing that. And if you’re consistently towing 12000lbs then you should probably be driving an HD truck in the first place. 1/2 ton trucks are more for daily driver convenience, capability, and reliability than a max tow rating. I’m hopeful this truck has all of that and is extremely successful.

Those of you weary of the new powertrain, just remember 440hp & 580ft/lbs. ♥️ Turbo longevity should not be a problem if Toyota tunes them to run under-stressed. Turbo problems come from boy racers trying to get tiny factory turbos to run 3x their originally intended boost levels, not from an engine simply having a turbo.

That horsepower and torque is pointless. You can pull heavy loads with lower powered engines and improved gearing. The TTV6 is only 3.44l, how will will this engine do with engine braking at max load of 12k lbs?

Same, I could watch a 1-2hr video on that alone. Direct and port injection. I couldn’t figure out from another video if the Canadian presenter talking about a water cooled turbo or they meant the intercooler for the charge air
@MrJcjet
@MrJcjet 2 жыл бұрын
@@TobyCostaRica turbos are water cooled and the cooling system is independent from the engine. Also fun info - the heads cool the exhaust before it reaches the turbos (water cooled, but separate chilling circuit from the cylinder chilling) so the turbos don't get very hot. They're twin scroll and fixed vane. Engine is crazy strong. It uses a crank cradle (block separates) instead of crank bearing caps just like diesel bottom ends. It's a turbo gasser built for very long life. Toyota is able to design and manufacture turbos in house so they aren't constrained to off the shelf designs.
