Thanks Kyle, nice to see this example of higher mileage early Tesla model X review. Although the model X is out of our price range, kind of wished I would have put a reservation on a Model Y Long Range last year when it was $14,000.00 CAD less expensive than it is now. Unfortunately my Ionic 5 AWD Long Range Preferred Ultimate trim has been pushed from May delivery to October, darn had I known that I would have taken my EV6 AWD Long range GT line pk2 back in mid April when it came in, but I like the Ionic for the space and light interior happy place. The EV6 in Canada has only black as the lone interior option.

Good video. I have a 2017 100D Model X at 110k. I’m on the fence with the car. I’ve traveled extensively with it and the supercharger network makes that possible. The 72A onboard charger is great for charging speed at home. The interior and body have held up. Battery degradation is reasonable at about 7%. However, here’s a list of things that I have issue with. It East through rear tires unless you fix the excessive negative camber, I had 5 replacement sets of front half shafts installed due to shuddering caused by excessive angle on the joints, failed AC line, failed steering Ujoint, failed heater, failed charger, failed door actuator, failed parking brake controller, failed MCU, summon never worked properly even after trips to the service center, dead 12V battery after 2 years, and failed camera, and failed glove box button. 25 trips to the service center in the first 2.5 years. After all of that, I seemed to have fixed all of the know issues Model Xs have.

The only things I wish Tesla will improve on is to install some more cargo area hooks and cargo tie-down rings. I notice that the newer Model Xs for 2022 already have four frunk hooks for groceries bags. Wish Tesla can also retrofit these hooks for older Model Xs' frunks too.

They are on the more expensive side, but they're purpose built, with all the buttons, fit in with the car design wise, and are simply made really nicely.

My original Tesla is a Model S which I handed down to my son and he has 170K on it now and still has about 90% battery. @@ken830 Fact: Elon wants Trump back on Twitter because banning him was in his own words, "morally wrong". Fact: multiple allegations of racism in Tesla's factories were validated. So remember that next time you want to buy another Tesla and who you support.
@ken830
@ken830 2 жыл бұрын
@@sprockkets First of all, where's your, "Fact: CEO of Tesla is friends with [Trump]"?! That's right. You're just making that up or drawing conclusions based on incomplete information. Your first "fact" stating "Elon wants Trump back on Twitter" is not a proven fact. In fact, if you actually listen to what he has said publicly about the matter, you'd know he was more nuanced than a sound bite -- That he thought it was "morally wrong" (his personal opinion) and that it was a bad move for the the country because it ultimately "alienated a large part of the country and did not ultimately result in Donald Trump not having a voice." My opinion? Elon doesn't like Trump, but he really doesn't like Twitter perma-banning anyone. I will admit I personally cheered when they banned Trump and I had hoped he'd be banned on all platforms, but I knew it wasn't actually a long-term solution and I personally have no idea what the best way would be to handle the situation, but I do see Elon's point... it has likely further divided the two sides and made it impossible to interact on the Twitter platform. And not interacting is the worse thing you can do if you want to develop empathy between two sides. An example of this: I don't like interacting with you here on KZfaq... and I would personally wish that you were banned... but I don't think that's the right thing to do. And I wouldn't do anything to have you banned either. Not sure what the point of your second fact was. I think Elon was concerned about permanent bans on the platform... not that he condones their views and tweets. And your 3rd "fact" isn't really a fact.. Look at any large company and I'll 100% guarantee you'll find among the thousands of employees and contractors that someone will have behaved in a manner that is racists... or pretty much any behavior associated within the general population. It still doesn't mean Elon condones it. And not only is there no proof that Elon is racist, there's no hint or indication that he is. You're just making stuff up in your head. I grew up in San Francisco and have lived in the Bay Area my entire life and although I feel like I am a moderate, I think a lot of people from across our country would label my views as "liberal". I feel 100% comfortable with my moral compass in my support for Tesla's mission, SpaceX's mission, and Elon. He and his companies have done more to change the trajectory of history for the better than anyone else in modern history. By far, the single biggest problem facing humanity is rapid climate change -- this affects every single living organism on this planet. Tesla is a massive force for the better on that front. And SpaceX is playing a huge, positive role in national security (while saving us a shit-ton of money for launches) and inspiring everyone to strive for a better world. I don't agree with him on a lot of things, but I don't find too much to object with... kind of like the way I feel about most normal people personally. Unless you know them personally and intimately, you should really listen more and learn more about a person (I've watched every Elon interview and read every Tweet , but you don't have to take it nearly as far) before you demonize them based on a very limited set of (arguably false and/or manipulated) information you're getting 2nd- or 3rd-hand. An example of this: I don't like you based on your last 2 KZfaq comments.... but that's a very limited view of you as a person. I'm pretty sure that if we were to actually meet face-to-face and get to know each other, I'd probably find you're just a normal, reasonable, person -- prone to jumping to conclusion with limited amount of information... like pretty much anyone else (myself included) I'd meet in this world. And if you're still somehow so misguided that you're avoiding Tesla vehicles, then please suggest an alternative. How about the second-largest EV manufacturer? That's VW... The same VW that was cheating on emissions (which directly and indirectly caused thousands of deaths while causing irreversible environmental damage) for years and blatantly lied to and misled authorities to delay exposure to their cheating. Now that's an ACTUAL FACT. And for this, I feel they deserved to be bankrupt, but instead they got a minor slap on the wrist and was forced to spend a few billion dollars to convert to EVs and fund the Electrify America charging network... That's a reward, not a punishment.... Wonderful.. now every other EV manufacturer benefits from this horrendous, unforgiveable act by the VW leadership. I want there to be consequences when companies actually behave so egregiously. This is why I will not support VW or any EV manufacturer that greatly depends on the EA network. And you shouldn't either.

Then you go on and on about how it was bad he was banned, when literally overnight, 70% of misinformation went away. The fact that you think that letting people do that and that Elon is right, says it all. "An example of this: I don't like interacting with you here on KZfaq... and I would personally wish that you were banned... but I don't think that's the right thing to do. And I wouldn't do anything to have you banned either." And that's because no one violated the TOS unlike trump. "And your 3rd "fact" isn't really a fact.. Look at any large company and I'll 100% guarantee you'll find among the thousands of employees and contractors that someone will have behaved in a manner that is racists... or pretty much any behavior associated within the general population. It still doesn't mean Elon condones it. " Name one other company who has a history of doing this AND ignoring the issue. Name also another company who has OSHA violations like the Tesla Nevada plant and who also did NOT let regulators in to check. "He and his companies have done more to change the trajectory of history for the better than anyone else in modern history. By far, the single biggest problem facing humanity is rapid climate change -- this affects every single living organism on this planet. Tesla is a massive force for the better on that front." Not really. He wants us dependant on Teslas in his stupid boring tunnels. That's not a solution and is not what this country needs. "And if you're still somehow so misguided that you're avoiding Tesla vehicles, then please suggest an alternative." Anyone else. And yes, other companies are not our friends, but I'm sure as heck not going to support an egotistical sociopath who is transphobic, lies, and then rubs everyone's face in it. Oh, and that's not even getting into the one journalist he threatened to sue for posting negative articles. Some freeze peach guy that is. If you don't want to reply then that's fine, no one said you have to argue with a random moron on the internet ;)

I live in Orlando Florida and I still never seen a supercharger anywhere I have no idea where they are?? 🤔?? And this is Orlando Florida where the number one tourist destination I live 10 minutes from Disney still haven't seen a charging station anywhere around here??? I mean I don't own a Tesla or anything like that but you would think they'll be charging a stations somewhere around here especially around the Disney area. But nope my whole life living here haven't seen that one?

100k miles is no small feat? I had over 200k miles on my 2001 Ford Focus when I traded it for a 2008 Focus (which already had 85k miles on it when I bought it). Of course, when got rid of the 2008 Focus for a plugin, my gasoline bill went from about $200/month commuting daily down to about $25 every other month (I still have my ICE SUV for carrying stuff) and my electric bill went up $15/month (I plug into a 110v charger overnight in my garage but use a 240/40amp charger at work to build up range. Anyway, 100k miles is a given I think with modern cars, 200k a little less given but still very doable.

The reason I won't go full EV yet....if I am taking a road trip that's long distance....say NY to FL, I don't want to add an additional 6 plus hours to my drive. When the time to charge drops significantly, you'll see EVs take over.
@vedhavet
@vedhavet Жыл бұрын
You are about right on the charging time for a round trip. However, just looking at one way tho' - using approx 1,300 mi (NYC to Miami) , It would only likely be around 4 hrs additional for charging, BUT with a gas car even driving hard, you would likely have to stop 2 times for gas (+bathroom stops) for at least 1 to 1.5 hrs. So, yes it means maybe 2.5 to 3 additional hrs. Are you in that big of a hurry? Plus you would save over $100 in gas vs electricity (not counting reduced vehicle maint). If you plan to stop and get something to eat ( and charge) at least a couple of times, this makes it even less of a difference or a big deal. Just something to think about.

Teslas are expensive but it's best to review total cost of ownership. From their channel I know they use Time of Use electricity and charge off peak. So cost per mile around 2 cents or less. Gas is around 16 cents right now. That difference over 100k miles is $14k (granted gas hasn't been that high the whole time). They also got the full $7,500 tax incentive. Add in oil changes, brakes, the occasional belts & hoses, radiator flush, trans service, and other maintenance. Add in one major mechanical issue and you're easily $25k in savings over 100k miles. Thing is you have to pay upfront and it is a lot for most people.

I mean I'm no math wizard but ~1,700 days and 100,000 miles would mean 58 miles a day on average. Owner: "it's rare for her not to go a 100 miles a day". Also, Autailors does not sell mats for the Model X so even if she could do it all over again she couldn't get those mats.

Good review. I really like this channel. The nice lady was going waaaay too fast on that residential street and rolling stop signs isn't cool. Glad to see the car has been good. I had a chance to take a trip in my buddy's 2019 Model X and it was nice. The only things that were unacceptable were the wind and tire noise on the highway-just incredibly loud.It was much louder than my base model 2016 Jetta. I've heard they improved the noise level on new model Xs The noise and vibration from the heater while we were stationary at a charging station was also very high-so much so I asked him if there was something wrong, btu he said it was how there were under those conditions.

Considering how expensive Teslas are, having a model x and y, you must have A LOT of $ to afford that. For a normal earning worker all EVs are not affordable!!!! If Musk would be such a concerned person for the future of the world, why not selling your cars for less so John Doe can afford them, too??????
@jman41852
@jman41852 2 жыл бұрын
As much as I'd like for Teslas to be more affordable; due to recent economical changes to EV battery materials increasing in price and gas prices going up causing some people to buy an EV increasing demand, doesn't seem very plausible. Does Elon Musk have the ability to lower pricing, sure but what what cost. The company would probably go under, no more Tesla's, no more supercharger network and all the people saying Tesla couldn't go far would be proven right. All EVs are not affordable, but neither is any ICE car. I do think electric cars are the future, but battery technology/materials are not cheap. Hopefully pricing will go down as more of the vehicle market is EV, unsure when that will actually happen, but I'm hopeful that pricing would be more affordable. I think saying Musk doesn't care about the future is far out there. Though I don't agree with everything he's done, I do think he cares for his fellow humans. EVs have not been the only vehicle that has gone up in pricing, ICE cars have also seen an increase
@ohger1
@ohger1 2 жыл бұрын
Teslas are a premium car in addition to being an EV, so they are pricey. There are other choices at much less the cost of a Tesla with more coming on line. With enough time, more manufacturers will be making EVs and you'll see the price drop and the charging infrastructure improve. Regarding Musk, Tesla has spent a metric shitload of money to develop the new engineering required of EVs and did so for years before they even sold their first car. Makes sense they will sell high-content cars to regroup their investment.
