The yellow screen border comes from oxidizing glue that has not been fully cured by the screen manufacturer. The UV light is used to completely cure it and bleach away the yellowness.

Reading some of the comments it’s clear that many are not aware of what is being bought by buying a Tesla - especially the S and X range... These cars literally forced the automotive industry to do a u-turn on thier ”EV is just a fad” mantra. Yes, the panel gaps are bad, yes, door alignment is an issue, but by God what you are getting is a car that literally dragged the industry kicking and screaming into the EV world. My X is far from perfect, but I am proud to own something that still turns heads, is incredibly reliable - even in a Swedish Winter, is comfortable on long journeys, provides stress-free driving, and is part of the ’EV is the future’ mindset. Without the S and the X, the 3 and the Y would not have been possible - for at least another 5-10 years. So yea... It ain’t perfect, but it tells a very important EV story.

@cobrachannel100
@cobrachannel100 3 жыл бұрын
There are way more benefits than that. The tech is really awesome with all the sensors, the doors closing and opening automatically and with brake pedal press, etc. Plus it runs comfortable, drives well better than its size suggests, and accelerates like a beast. Plus, it has a ton of storage space. I have never had any major problems with it. Is it perfect? Nope! But, I would not trade it with any ICE vehicle ever. The only thing that is comparable is Model S. I may replace it with a refreshed S.

The notorious clicking/pinging noise coming from the half shafts is not due to wear and tear. My X has had it since when I bought it brand new. I went to Tesla during the first year of ownership and they told me that they had no fix for it. They said it was a design flaw. Some sort of an angle of half shafts when suspension is raised. So I then decided not to pursue the fix. Interestingly enough, I sometimes get that noise even when suspension is in low under hard acceleration. However, that doesnt happen that often. It could also be that in some locations, the auto raise happens and I am not even aware that it has been raised. So, perhaps, there is no noise in low setting. But, definitely a problem when normal or high.

I don't know if it's been mentioned already but you didn't point out the obvious mis-aligned rear driver side passenger door. It's off by a few multimeters compared to the front door. It's no wonder why Tesla has been focusing on the refresh of the 3, the Y and the S lately. The X is going to have to go back to the drawing board. Ditch the wing doors and boost that quality control.

@BenGreggSweden
@BenGreggSweden 4 ай бұрын
Would your really NEED a roof rack on this thing? It’s already got a ton of extra space-at least a roof rack’s worth in the frunk, and in the back end subfloor space. Plus, you can always put one of the rear seats down to get enough space for a ski duffel bag. Roof racks are not recommended on EVs due to the fact that the increased drag reduces your mileage a lot more than without one.

@@g0balot well obviously aluminum doesnt rust. I’ve had Audis and BMWs plus other quality brands. The feel of these cars is good, the fit is perfect and they are nice to drive. That said though, each model had its own areas of weakness, common faults and my last car was sold at 220,000 miles. I was replacing all sorts of components over the years, lots of brake parts but also many funny little widgets in the engine bay to make it efficient or meet regulations. Even that generation of diesel had EGR valves, DPF, glow plugs, masses of hoses and pipes. Then regular oil changes. I’m not many years from now we will all look back at what an utter ballache ICE cars were and look with admiration at the heroes of the community that persist in driving something like an AMV8. I always thought that after school fees finish I’ll treat myself to something like a Rapide but instead I’ll admire them as they drive past safe in the knowledge that I will face none of their bills.

There are elements of Tesla’s that are a bit ropey given the cost of them however where I let them off is they have achieved this in around 10 years whereas the like of BMW have had over 100 years and do not make cars that are 10 times better...in fact if it wasn’t for Tesla coming along and giving the industry a royal kick up the arse I’d still be driving a diesel. I really miss my old 5 series touring but an EV is just so much better as a means of transport.

Is there a Tesla made car that doesn't have any parts replaced during the first 100k KM ? All the cars you showed had issues . I cannot imagine owning this cars as second hand, without warranty. So much with environmental friendly bull crap.

Model 3 and Y don't have these issues. Tesla learned from their older cars what works and what doesn't.

Never need to worry about brake pads, timing belts, oil changes, blown gaskets, leaking gaskets, blown turbos, various filters needing replacement, blown transmissions. I think, I will take my chances with some minor door latches, panel gaps, some software glitches, etc.

This video mostly demonstrates Tesla very poor build quality (squeaking, screen issues, _rust_, rattling noises, wear and tear by the car's own mechanisms, panel alignment etc.). I sold a VW Golf that had over 100k km 10 years ago and none of that kind of thing was present.

I'm so glad I did not buy a Tesla (but it was a no-brainer as the low ground clearance made it scratch the battery pack in my downhill garage ramp..)

Actually does not look that bad for a 4 year old car with 100,000 km (60,000+ miles) used for children and in a snowbelt country with road salt. Most of the items can be adjusted, lubricated, or repaired with small investment. Question really is, what does the underbody look like?

Sorry but just cannot understand why anybody would buy a new 'X'. The build quality is shocking and that will ultimately be reflected in low residual values once the Tesla fan boys become disillusioned and move on.

I bought a model X, and I don't care "residual value", so maybe you can be right but I just dont care. I bought it for long term usage and we will see how well it works. Until now it is perfect.

I think years is the wrong measurement in this case, it all comes down to kilometers. Second it comes down to the country you are living in an the energy mix. So it can be all the way from 20’000 to 80’000 km to reach break even.

Those corroded metal strut bolts are a common problem in Tesla's. My 2015 Model S had the struts replaced under warranty because of that same corrosion problem. Could this be the reason?? Galvanic corrosion occurs when two different metals are in contact in a corrosive environment: one of the metals experiences an accelerated corrosion rate. The contacting metals form a bimetallic couple because of their different affinities (or attraction) for electrons. per" galvanizeit.org/ "
