Writing from Canada, I have a small breed dog with the same condition as Tesla. He will be 13 in Sept. His left front leg was not amputated and can run with the best of them. However, Tesla being a large breed would cope better without that limb. He will be amazing and do just fine. Love what you do!

Hi, I am Lynnette from England. I am a relative newcomer to Viktor Larkhills rescue and the world animal awareness Society, so have a lot of catching up to do regarding videos. Today was the first time that I have seen Tesla. The video was most enjoyable and informative. I loved, watching Tesla play with the pinecones in the garden at the White House last year, bless him, he’s such an adorable, fun filled,happy and adorable and playful spirit ! 🐕🐕🐕ahh, I love him to pieces❣️ It is awesome, that Viktor and everyone that works with him are able to devote so much time to Tesla and all the other dogs and cats that they lovingly care for.💕😇💙💕😇💙 I think that Viktor, on the advice of at least three experts, made the right decision to have teslas redundant leg amputated. It’s very sad but was the best thing to be done for him In the circumstances. It is fantastic to see that Tesla has now adjusted fully to only having three legs and Leading a happy and fulfilled life, full of love from a wonderful family with other animals, including her own brother Blue who was also previously adopted by Viktor and his team. How wonderful❣️ It’s beautiful and heartwarming to see that two years on, Tesla is extremely happy with her wonderful family, including all the animals. I am so happy for him and super happy to see that only having three legs has not impeded Tesla’s Mobility Or ability to walk and run around and continue to play just be a very happy dog! Victor and team, you are all amazing. My min pin was rescued. He only 3 legs. It is deformed. Bent close to his chest. He is a speed deamon. He's faster than a speeding bullet. Thus his name is Remington, a gun. I would never hesitate to adopt a special dog.

I have a Mastiff they're great dogs. I know this breed very well. When they're young they will challenge you... physically! But one must aquire dominance over the breed or you'll end up w/a multitude of problems. My Mastiff is loving and sweet but he also knows his power which is what I wanted, having his natural abilities in tact! I don't believe in over-training it kills their spirit. W/this breed and the way he's trained he's kept both.

I love watching your videos! I follow a sanctuary near Houston, Texas who also rescues dogs and that may be why your video came up as a suggestion. I am very glad it did because now I am glued to them. We have a special needs Standard Poodle with a very rare brain defect so he requires a lot of our attention in more ways than playing, walks, excursions and the usual. He is still very intelligent, but he has seizures and irritable bowel disease, so his food and med schedule must remain strict. I am grateful we are retired so we can accommodate all his needs. I wish we could adopt one of your doggies, but it would be too difficult, especially feeding them because Dexter is limited to hydrolyzed protein or all vegetarian and I hate that.

I live now in Georgia. Ilove what you do for the sick and homeless and disabled animals and I am very proud of you! I L♡ved Tesla the moment I looked into his eyes and I saw what I saw in my other dog Joey who has now passed two months ago from cancer. It was horibal because I didnt know. It was under his tounge and spread to his stomach. He was a wonderfully sweet blue Staffordshire. I'm a Senior & Disabled and it would be complicated because things are getting harder for me to take care of another. I just love Tesla and I just pray that he will have a good home. ❤ I've seen many tripod dogs but this one will do great because he is not using his leg so he's used to being on three legs. Now he will be balanced. God bless you all I just wanted to say one more thing seeing Tesla makes me miss my boy Joey more. my little girl Tilly is adjusting but it is slow. Ppl who've had an amputation have one major problem called ghost pains where the amputated limb still thinks it's there and bc it's not it causes terrible pain for the amputee. So, no it's not easy for them at all! So my question is does an amputee dog have the same problem? But what it means is that this Mastiff will have to rely on his other leg wearing it out before it naturally would. So, the other leg that missing must have a prothesis or this poor dog will have many more problems later on. In America there is a man who does make the kind of prosthetic that Tesla needs. Look him up! This guy's AMAZING!

We had a 150 pound st Bernard dog and had cancer in the right front leg. The vet said that amputation was the only way to save her. So we did and she was so sad. Very hard for her to walk because she was so big and 8 years old. We only had 6 more months with her. So I think doing this with tesla at a very young age is the best thing to do. 😊

Why can't the vets leave a stump and just remove the arm at the elbow joint? That way the puppy can at least use the stump for balancing himself and it's also easier to get a prosthetic as well. We had a disabled dog with a severed arm, but she still had her shoulder and elbow, and all the prosthetic surgeons we spoke to said that she was very lucky to have her elbow as the prosthetic could be fitted easily. xx

In this day and age, it must surely be possible to make a prosthetic limb, as in the case of humans with severely damaged limbs caused by mine explosions. We even have olympic runners! "Stick a prosthetic leg on!!!".... Unfortunately it's not as easy as that. The growth of the leg bones had started to separate from the scapula (shoulder blade) which by the looks of the x-ray was a birth defect. That is a huge dog breed too, as a puppy, his paws are bigger than most adult dogs paws, so he will be big and heavy. to put a prosthetic limb on, he would not have anywhere to attach it, it's an incredibly awkward part of the body, super active part of the body, also his growth, having to change it and update its size and position... Amputation was the best option. He would have been dragging the leg round, tripping over, and also the dead weight would cause him problems with the over compensated use of his other limbs, his mech and spine would possibly be affected by the leg too... Viktor, you and your team/family are incredible human beings. You go above and beyond for these precious ones, and the love and support and care you give them ALL is unprecedented, unmatched, but not unnoticed... Amazing people!! Well done and God bless your hearts 💟💪🐩🐈💟

Please just take out that excess part of the leg. Don’t totally amputate that front left leg
