This is one of the best generation of Gmc and chevy 2000-2006

I would buy this Tahoe in a heartbeat!

I believe these are some of the best GM.ever produced, also I consider the interiors to be one of the most comfortable ever.

Gm went downhill after this generation of trucks, im a ford guy but always liked these tahoes and the gm pickups of this era

This is the Tahoe I fell in love with, it is the sole reason why it has maintained position as my favorite SUV of all time. It's gorgeous looking to me. Roomy. Strong powerful V8 engine. Long lasting and rugged. Everything a man and father like me looks for in a vehicle. Especially the fully loaded models that were two tone painted.

My folks also bought a new 05 Z71 but in black. Still their only vehicle with well over 200k. They've done a u-joint, brakes, some AC work, blend door actuators, and tires. Super solid rig. Best Gen Chevy for sure!

I have a 2004 Z71 with just over 202,000 miles and still drives and runs like when I bought it with 67k miles. Just basic maintenance

These are the coolest Z71’s ever made. They actually added some cool things that made them stand out like the bigger roof rack and the roof rack roller, instead of just giving a 4x4 a body kit like newer gens. I really want one of these but they’re hard to find in good shape.

Love the GMT800 platform series Tahoes and Suburbans. My mom used to own a 2002 MY Suburban for over 12 years and put 176,000 miles on it. Such a good rig.

I just bought a 2004 Z71. The tan interior isn't the greatest quality, some peeling and worn buttons, but other than that, it's been amazing so far. And yes, I had to solder the instrument panel board to get my gear indicator back. If you're handy, all the repair information is online.

GMT800’s are bulletproof! I’ve got a 2000 2500 Suburban with almost 220k miles on it and I thrash it hard on the weekends off-roading here in Idaho. Great video!

This generation has always been my favorite. I have a rust-free '04 Suburban w/ 191k miles w/ original engine/tranny and the thing is an absolute tank. Extremely comfortable ride and relatively cheap to fix. I plan on driving this thing 'til the wheels fall off(or until gas prices reach $10 a gallon here in CA)

My 05 suburban has 268k miles on it ,love my rig.

My dad has a 2005 GMC Yukon, purchased it 11/04, 2WD with the 4.8L. 87k miles, runs so well. We use it to tow our can-am (2500lbs with trailer). Amazing suv.

I have an 02 LT suburban with stock running gear just about to cross over 328k. Best trucks out there!

I will keep my 04 Tahoe till the day it dies. Then I will rebuild the 5.3 and drive it another 300k. She's only at 161k and has years to go. Loaded with leather and everything works. Best trucks ever made by Chevy. Great video!

Ahhh...the venerable GMT800 chassis trucks and it's variants. Love these trucks. When I bought my 2014, l saved my 2000 for my oldest son who was still 5 years out from getting his license. It's now his truck...188,000 miles strong. Original water pump, air conditioning, power steering pump, etc. Only changed fuel pump.

I have a 2003 Tahoe Z71 with 177,000 and it’s awesome! I would love to see TFL pick one of these up and do some off-roading with it.

I have a 05 tahoe as well. It's the second gm of this generation that I have had. Great vehicles. Mine has the bench seat in the front for a total of 9 seat belts.

Very nice! I had a '91 Tahoe Sport (2-dr Blazer). The seats were like Laz-E-Boy chairs, similar to these. Most comfy seats in a truck- EVER!

My aunt had a 05' Z71 brand new off the showroom floor. It was a great truck. Lots of memories.

I have this EXACT same Tahoe. Same color, same year, everything is the same. Bought it in Oklahoma a few years ago from the original owner and brought it back to Michigan. 256,000 miles and still going strong!!!

I have a 2004 tahoe and so far only did the intake gaskets , alternator , and the oil pump o ring seal . Only major things that have had to be fixed . Besides my flex fuel sensor being messed up . But I have driven it for 6 years with it messed up . Has almost 300,000 miles and still runs great . Right now going through the suspension and doing a full rebuild on it

From 2005 to 2013, the 2WD option for the Z71 trim was optional on the Tahoe and Suburban

Great vid, very nice truck. I just found a victory red 2000 z71 built may of 2000. 2000 was s weird year, obs and nbs. The mono painted bumpers, grill, fog lights, brush guard and step rails, two tone leather, barn doors, and alcoa 5 star rims all oem is cool. The brush guard is solid.

I love this generation of tahoe/silverado, I own a 2005 silverado and I absolutely love it, I plan on getting a Tahoe to camp out of at some point in the near future

295hp with electric fans and 335ftlbs of torque. Looks to be the original battery as I remember the one on my 06 Yukon which has been an excellent truck!

I also have a 2005 Tahoe Z71 and I'm in Denver. Not to brag but my bumpers have no rust. Lol. Mine is even optioned the same, I don't have auto climate controls or the rear DVD player. I love this gen of trucks

My 2001 Tahoe 5.3 have 488 675 km. Still runs great.

I have a 2001 Silverado. Drove it off the lot on May 1, 2001. Has the 5.3 V8. Has been very good for me. Also has issues with gauges. Glad I’m not the only one 😅. Andre sure does love mentioning the G80 rear diff. I think it was a very common option back then. My truck is 2wd and has it. Been helpful on wet roads.

407,000 miles on my 2002 5.3L!

I currently have a 2005 Tahoe PPV with all the paperwork included. Right now, my engine has 270k miles ( still purrs like a kitten ) and unfortunately I had to replace the transmission last year at 260k miles. ( its an old police package tahoe, so it was pushed really hard ). But, GM doesn't make the Tahoe no where near as reliable as the GMT800's ( 2000 to 2006 ). I've owned my Tahoe for five years now and I've yet to see another Tahoe ppv like mine here in West Texas. Although, I see plenty of the regular GMT800 Tahoes still going. Best GM trucks ever made.

bought our 2005 tahoe new, it's now around 100k miles, a great vehicle for a family. I've heard the newer generations are not as good, some blame the morale of GM during these latter years. For my model, it's probably gone through 3 sets of tires, brakes 1x, knock sensors and the 2wd/4wd crankcase synchro 2x in 16 years. (probably because we don't use it much). What I love about the tahoe is if you are handy and can do basic car maintenance yourself this vehicle is pretty easy to work on. I'm fortunate to live in Missouri where we don't salt the roads much so the paint and body has next to no rust. Hard to believe it's 16 years old. With most of these tahoes going 250k miles, we probably have another 15 years to go.

I have a 2001 GMC 2500 HD 8.1 L with the 5-speed Allison, still not at 100,000 mi. I've replaced the starter, the crank position sensor, The electric windows and automatic door locks and that's about it. Unfortunately the AC evaporator has a leak and that's a huge job to get that part out of the dash. I put the scanner on it recently and the fuel trims are nearly perfect.

I’ve always loved the Z71 Tahoe’s.

My parents bought an 04 Tahoe LS brand new 17 years ago and is still running strong today, so far its needed a new instrument cluster, new front shocks, new drivers side front wheel hub, new water pump, new battery, and new tires. The Heating / A/C system has a couple issues and the parking brake doesn't work. It's got 180k miles on it and has yet to have any major issues.

I bought my Dad's Chevy Tahoe LS 4x4 Vortec V8 5.3 with Trailer Towing package in 2018 with 24,,600 miles. Now have 45,700 miles. I had the ABS Brake Module, Brake Fluid Pump replaced and more recently had all the brake lines replaced with stainless steel brake lines. Really great truck, mine is white, was bought new in Louisiana June 2005.

My 96 with the 5.7 350 has 290,000 miles on original engine and trans. It runs and drives fine. Trans is starting to shift a little hard but whatever I don’t care. Still haul a lot of heavy loads in my Tahoe!!

I would drop aftermarket, HD bumpers on this and drive it until the wheels fall off.

Hey Dustin, you should have the transfer case looked at for the pump rub issue. It happens to nearly every gm transfer case of this era at around 140k. Nice looking truck

I had an 05 GMC Sierra 1500 Extended cab z71 basically fully loaded and I miss that bad boy, replaced it at I think 147k miles. My mom has a 2008 Suburban LT 4x4 with 146k miles on it all original no real issues with it yet. And for work we had 2 2004 Chevy Express cargo vans, one with the 6.0l and one with the 5.3l. Wrecked the 6.0l sliding off into a ditch in the snow and the 5.3l was feeling a little weak and the transmission was starting to probably fail because it wouldn't even like running over a curb or going up steep inclines in reverse lol. So we took the 6.0l and it's being rebuilt right now and we're gonna drop it in the other van with the 5.3l and put the other transmission in because it's in better shape. Both have 300k miles on them all original and they've been used as work vehicles that never get taken care of. Surprisingly though, both gauge clusters still work just fine. We just have issues with the headlights and blinkers going out randomly. Or like on the 5.3l van when you turn the brights on it turns off all of your lights, very strange lol. They'll still run forever though. If the world ever comes to an end aside from the terrible fuel economy I'd be driving around in an early to mod 2000's Suburban or GM Van because there's really nothing you can do to kill them. Even our 5.3l didn't get an oil change for 20-25k miles and that's was between like 270-290k miles still didn't seem to care fired up everyday for work drove 150-200 miles a day never left us stranded. Pretty sure the 6.0l and even the 5.3l are the best gas motors ever made. That's why I bought a 2018 GMC Sierra 3500 HD CC Long Bed with the 6.0l before they got rid of them 35k miles on it and it's doing good so far I'll take it to 300-400k miles if not more.

Bought my 2002 Tahoe from a used car dealership 13 years ago. She runs better then the day i Bought her. Original motor and transmission amazing truck. No issues, She is my road trip queen.

I have a 2005 z71 & I haven’t been as lucky, transmission rebuilt under 120k miles, sunroof went, heat & AC go out yearly. Loved the concept of it, wish I would’ve had this experience. Getting rid of it & going Toyota or Honda

FYI, new seat foam and covers are available on Amazon. I’ve got replacement seat foam made by Dorman. As usual driver seat on my 04 was beat. The rest of the seats are perfect.

I have an exact one but in bermuda blue, with only 133,000. Love it.

This was kept in a more hospitable climate then the rust belt and it shows. It also was very gently used averaging less then 10,000 miles a year. It looks great. The engine sounded good with no GM piston slap that was evident in some of the early 5.3L engines. I am curious if this one burns oil as my second two 5.3L engines would start to burn oil after eclipsing the 100K mile mark. For someone who could send out the gauge cluster to be fixed and touch up the bumpers this would be great ride to have and should go another 100K miles or more.

I had the 2005 271 Tahoe and drove it for 160k miles no problems.

Had the same one / regret selling it so much.. !! Parts are cheap and easy to fix.. only prob keep on eye on the rust underneath

I had a 2005 LS Tahoe with leather interior. The radio volume went up as you accelerated from factory so old white ladies in Florida wouldn't complain of the V8 sound

take it on a mpg loop please!!!!! lol i own a 2002 model tahoe LS 5.3 and i get like 17 mpg and it has 175k miles still runs pretty strong although it leaks oil which i been too lazy to fix, but considering my dad who originally bought it in 2002 never did any maintenance to it i'd say it runs pretty good, since i took it over ive done a transmission fluid flush, ac line fix, full brake job rotors and pads and replaced some seized calipers, shocks were bad so i replaced, ball joint replacement, so far it runs great and no problems

The GMT 800's are arguably the best the trucks GM ever made, and one of the best vehicles ever made, period. One thing to note is GM changed and modernized ALL their electronics in 2003, so if you can live with a little bit of an older radio and less "computer" features, you'll get much more reliable electronics if you choose a '99-'02 GMT800 instead of the '03-'07. With 140k that thing is just broken in! Let it not rust, and worst case rebuild the 4L60 around 250k, and you'll have a truck until 400k. They've aged so well, and you still see SO many on the road. My 2002 Suburban has 250k on it now, and in the last 12 months it's been from NY to Montana and back, then NY to Florida and back, and I just got back from a trip from NY to Kansas and back, all with zero issues. Granted, I do take care of it really well. Enjoy that truck for another 140k!! cheers

I'm sorry original brakes? If that thing is still on original pads and rotors he's gotta be down to the rotor vents or have brakes that are warped and squeaky as hell. Either that or he is bs'ing

My 04 Tahoe has 190 k and also no issues other than a water pump going out at 174k and the wacky gas and oil pressure gauges.

Beautiful truck! Just for the record, even back then they offered a z71 "appearance package" that had all the looks but not 4 wheel drive. The giveaway was that the z71 logo did not have the 4x4 subscript. Happy trails!

That generation Tahoe was awesome. I had a 2001 and never had any major problems. If it wasn't for the a/c I probably would've still had it today. I traded it in 2017 with 255k miles and I do miss that truck, very reliable. Always did its oil changes and ran just like the one in this video. Excellent truck!

Mine is very similar to that z71 but mine is a year older with a bit less miles and a tad more options besides not being 4x4, like mine has the sunroof and the digital/dual zone ac and rear audio control and rear ac controls

Chose this year suburban over newer options ! Is more solid and reliable! And still looks good I think! Had it for 4 years and running strong

So much cleaner than my '04 Suburban Z71! Here in Michigan they use a ton of salt on the roads, so the body on mine is disintegrating (I've actually had trim pieces fall off because the body rusted so much that the trim mounts ripped out).

I had a 2004 1500 Suburban with the g80 almost 300k on it. Me, my wife and kids are sad we sold it. We towed a travel trailer and some moderate to heavy off road. Never let us down! The g80 work great if you don't abuse it.

Our '05 Suburban just rolled over 400,000 miles. 147k is basically a brand new truck!

I have that exact same truck, color, year, Z71. 280K and is like new

Just sold my 03 tahoe last month. Owned it from 86k to 136k. In that time the abs module needed rebuilt, front hubs, multiple batteries, lots and lots of brake pads and rotors (it eat them up), hvac resistor, water pump, one wheel bent, new fuel lines, did brake lines twice,cluster rebuilt,transfer case module,blend door actuator, two calipers. And that’s it as far as I can remember.. all in all it was a great truck. I got rid of it because I knew that somewhere down the line the 4l60e tranny was gonna take a dump even though it shifted smooth as silk.

These were good trucks, but the steering components are a weak link and aftermarket tie rods are better, the fuel pressure regulators go bad (great MPG but it’ll die at idle), fuel pumps die regularly if the tank is run down to empty, 10 bolt axle is weak, and the dash wiring (and cheap plastics). I’d still drive one.

That is one of the best GM truck from 2003 to 2006 2007 to 2014 is good too

My 03 Tahoe has 270k on it now. Love it. Paid $2500 in 2020 for it.

Definitely not in the rust belt. I had an 03 Sierra and I repaired rust on a daily basis. Replaced the dash cluster and the CD player quit. The spare wheel even rusted so bad I'm not sure the lug nuts would have held it on. Also had the worst brakes of any vehicle I ever had. I would have been afraid to tow a 5,000 lb trailer with it. Even after replacing every part on the braking system. My dad had an 03 Chevy Avalanche with only 13,000 miles and had the same terrible brakes.

Mine has a serious gas leak but its not dripping gas from no were i checked the driveway daily , i just know every time i put 20 dollors in the tank and do a little driving around the next few days the gas is gone other then that it's bulletproof with no check engine lights ever.😞

I own this same truck only difference is I have a sunroof, auto climate control and no engine block heater with 161k running strong.

Dont think I will ever sell my 2000 Tahoe. Granted it's now a cammed 6.0/4l80 with Katzkin interior, its still overall a solid rig and best part is I can work on, mod it myself. 👌 my original front brakes went 200k before I finally just pulled them off and went to the larger GMT900 caliper/rotor setup and added hydroboost. I'm sure my old truck will out stop a new one. 🙄

I have taken my Suburban to hell and back. 325k. Original power train. Tbh motor and trans probably need replaced. Rear main is out. All the options work. It's been a great ride!

GMT 800 are the best GM ever built, my 05 Tahoe LS 2wd has over 221,000 and runs so good that she is being prepped for another road trip even though we a 2013 Acadia because she is just more comfortable than that Acadia. In fact I just switched her from 2nd row bench to buckets to make it even more comfortable. I'm riding her till one of us dies.

Reliability wise the best generation Tahoe period !!!

Extremely reliable vehicles - the only problem a lot of us have is rust, living in salt and brine. It sucks.
