Scotty you're always saying how bad Chrysler's are. I'm not saying everything they make is good but I've had two Chrysler 300's one 2005 V6 and one 2007 V8 Hemi and they have been absolute tanks. I really neglected and beat the hell out of the V6 when I was in my early 20's and it just would not quit no matter what I did to it. It got to the point where I loved that car based on the sheer fact that it would not quit even after I wrecked it. Never left me stranded. 300's are phenomenal automobiles for what they are in my opinion

@foxfordcatguy2283
@foxfordcatguy2283 5 жыл бұрын
I was replying to Andy's Shop's comment. I've been a mechanic since '89, I know full well anything modern is junk compared to older stuff. I've owned 8 Foxes including the 3 I currently own (the aforementioned '89 GT + an '85 GT and an '83 Capri). I also formerly owned an '89 LX. There wasn't a 25th anniversary edition Mustang. Ford famously only commemorated the 25th anniversary with a "25 Years" running horse emblem on the passenger side of the dash on ALL mid-year '89s through mid-year '90 Mustangs (Both of my '89s had it). Check the book "Fox-Body Mustang Recognition Guide" by Thomas A. Schreiber & Peter C. Sessler among others. The FWD Probe was supposed to be the new Mustang, but when fans complained, that idea was scrapped. So supposedly they didn't really have time to come up with a special edition. Are you thinking of the 20th anniversary '84 which all were white with GT350 rocker stripes? My Foxes all had/have sideview mirrors, which my state requires, so I've never had a problem changing lanes. '89 was the last year for the high-back seats to improve visibility to the right.

My first work truck was a 09 Silverado 1500 with 279,000 miles on it. No rust. The transmission was finally starting to slip. My second one is also a 09, 243,000 miles, no rust and is still running well. Hey, any car that can do 200K + for mileage is OK in my book. I had 2 1990's Caprices that were great. I had a 04 and 05 Silverado that were awesome. No, I am not buying it that Chevy is junk. All mfg's have good and bad models. Chevy had good ones and bad ones. Scotty's precious Toyota's aren't without problems. Look at the Tacomas. KZfaq search "drivers seat modifications". Lots of videos of folks needing to modify their seats to make them comfortable. HA. Than you have the shitty transmission shift points. TRULY AWFUL ! The new RAV4 is starting to rack up transmission complaints.

They're garbage. When you buy the stock converter it's usually close to a couple grand. These universals are what? 250? Cats are full of platinum and palladium and some other expensive metals that draw out the NOs. I've seen shops put in a universal on one side of the exhaust (misdiagnosed) and have the brand new cat running at 30% effiencey while the stock cat was at 97. This was a couple weeks ago. As far as why Chevy owners keep coming in for them... Beats me. One of the best ways to ruin a cat is with a misfire though. Might have to do with the fact Chevy owners tend to be more diy and are probably more likely to drive with the light on?

It’s nonsense! Current in the car’s 12v system has no need to seek a path to the road. Ground is the car chassis, the road is insulated and neither positive nor negative with respect to the car’s battery. It’s obviously an urban myth, I hope Scotty has a think about this and mentions it in the future. The only way I can see electricity damaging wheel bearings is via a lightning strike or a power line coming down on the car!

Speaking about the neg. ground strap, my 04 Ranger had all kinds of electrical codes like misfire on #6 etc and a bad alternator. So I got to looking at the ground strap and it was this tiny aluminum factory connector. So I go to Oriely's, and right there by the batteries were these large COPPER connectors for ground straps. I cut off the old and spliced in the new and it was an instant fix!

@markmidwest7092
@markmidwest7092 5 жыл бұрын
I like Scotty but this doesn't make any sense at all. Ground is a thing in A/C circuits for our infrastructure because you can go through the ground to complete the circuit. Your battery is the start and end-point circuit for your car's electrical system and the ground itself has nothing to do with it. The vehicle chassis itself is "ground" (drawn with a different symbol, by the way, on schematics because it is not earth ground). There's no reason for electricity to pass through your wheel bearings to get from one battery terminal to the other.

@garcjr
@garcjr 5 жыл бұрын
I've heard of bad grounds welding the transmission together too. If you got bad grounds electricity will find whatever square millimeter of metal to ground space is going to be used to go back to the battery. The friction of the tire going down the road creates static electricity which could shed some light to this story. But your voltmeter or lights would be flickering way before it gets to this point.
@markmidwest7092
@markmidwest7092 5 жыл бұрын
I everybody. Thanks, I appreciate all the responses. We are talking 12 volts of power here so it's not much. It just seems to me that the wheel bearings would be an unlikely path back to the battery (other through the ABS or other sensor) because the wheel bearings would have to allow an electrical path that was otherwise inaccessible. And what path could the wheel bearings provide? Because they have no privileged access back to the battery.
