I wouldn't buy anything else apart from BMW in the price range of a used one, but it has to be a straight 6 port injected. I will have to admit though you have to be able to fix it yourself as gaskets and water pump can fail as early as 60k miles , if you can't fix it yourself, you could spend an astronomical amount fixing it. Of course a prius is going to be more reliable but I would not buy a prius if I was trying to have fun going on drives and canyon runs. Good day Scotty and All. I currently live in Germany and i will agree with the BMW being crap in the USA but not in Germany. I have a BMW 2010 116 diesel. Paid 3000 dollars and this car runs like a champ. Handle and performs amazingly. Gets me 600 plus mile full tank. Ive had no issues over a year having this vehicle.

BMW has got many of their issues fixed and have very high reliability ratings. No, I don't want one. The truth is if you want a performance vehicle you gotta pay to play. If you want reliability over performance buy a Toyota. They make great vehicles, boring to drive but very good. I did the boring car thing all of my life. As Mark says, "Life's to short to drive boring cars!" I got to that old age where I want to live a little. What ever you do Do Not Buy A Ford!! Lololol

As a European, I can never understand the fascination and obsession with BMW, what is the big deal please? They are terrible in the snow and ice, oil leaks aplenty, plastic engine parts, constant issues with engine mgmt lights, overrpriced parts and service, and so on and on and on? Someone please explain? To me BMW's have always been just a slightly better than average car, not quite at Mercs level, but above most other European brands.

I am surprised that Scotty doesn't mention the innately shoddy electrics on Audis. After around 5 years of average use they develop intermittent faults and open circuits, often needing major attention to what used to be called 'looms'. As cars became so dependent upon on board computers (usually located in stupid places), manufacturers should have beefed up hard wiring but few bothered. Given that Audi started from a low point in this regard I am amazed that anyone buys them.

No luxury car has good resale value. Even a 2020 Mercedes E350 can be bought for under $25k in great condition from a certified dealer, while a brand new one costs almost $70k. That's a 65% drop in value in only 4 years.

@@midiman5045 Lexus holds value because it's a Toyota product. If I were looking to get a Lexus, I would just get a top-trim Toyota. But I don't hold it in the same regard as standalone luxury brands as BMW and Mercedes. It's more akin to Infinity, Genesis, Acura, etc.

@@jp1087 Sure Benz and BMW are great money pits. There is a difference in Toyota top trim and Lexus. Lexus are much more quality. Number 1 and 2 for resale value are Toyota and Lexus. @jp1087
@jp1087 2 ай бұрын
@@midiman5045 Compare Acura, Infinity, Genesis, etc, and you will see that they are very much in the same league as Lexus. Lexus is a Toyota and that's the only reason for its resale value. And just like any car, if you don't maintain it, then it will be a money pit. If you have a BMW or MBZ and it's a money pit, then you're not taking care of it correctly. When properly maintained, those cars will last a very long time. Do they cost a little more to do it? Yes, but that's the idea behind luxury cars, they cost more and the build quality is better. I go to Newport Beach 6-7 times a year, and I don't see many Lexus' at all, or BMW's for that matter. People are commuting in Mercedes and Bentleys. Lexus is for the inland-folk.
