Pro tip, screw in the o2 sensor to the exhaust pipe FIRST, then connect the 02 wire connector into the harness connector, you wont have ANY kinks or twists AT ALL, those wires are already subject to damage all the time so less or no tension on them can prevent further damage or at least less damage if something kicks up at them while driving

Have a great mechanic, but without a check engine light, and due to the age of the car, they were unwilling to spend my money trying to chase the problem down. They don’t handle exhaust systems and sent me to their recommended muffler shop. Replaced the cat (twice) and the down stream O2 sensor (was not Nippon) Finally determined the computer was bad and bought a 2014 Camry. Thanks for your channel.

I think the problem might be that the un-connected connector would fall through the hole and would be a real pain to feed up from the bottom. First let me start by saying I really enjoy your videos. As for the secondary O2 sensor does not control air fuel ratio only the primary controls the air fuel ratio. The secondary O2 is the determine converter efficiency. Another thing is that O2 sensor is a 1 trip set what I mean is that if there is a problem it will trip instantly. Things like cat converter efficiency and EGR flow at 2 trip cycles and the car has to drive a certain speed for a certain amount of time and park it and the coolant temp has to go below a certain temp then when you start it up and drive again under same conditions if there is still a problem the light will set, but on a 2 trip cycle system if the problem is still present after the first trip and all criteria has been met a temporary code will be set. Most of the hesitation problems on that model where the throttle position is either bad or someone has replaced the battery and did not do proper idle relearn procedure. And as for the going under the seat to change sensor yes Honda engineers at total freaking clowns...Honda mechanic since 1998

OEM sensor in my Honda cost as much as the cat, but it is money well spent seeing as a bad sensor attributed to a broken cat. It stands to reason that good quality cables make a good connection, same goes for scart, HDMI, speaker interconnects etc.The car runs like clockwork now. Read many stories from Honda owners saying cheap sensors don't work. When my starter motor eventually gives out it will be a decent OEM replacement for the same reason.

I agree I have one, not had a single engine problem, but then again I have owned 3 and never had a problem and I have 110K on this one now I own. The only issue I have had is batteries in MN go out way too quick, like 2-3 yrs ever since this car came out. Every 2 yrs they put an interstate battery (from HONDA) and they say anything less than 450 CC Amps is bad. 550 is what it starts with. Since they come with 3 yr warranties 100% replacement, I replace it (cost wise myself) every 4 yrs.

The wife and myself both have Renault Meganes, her one is a 2010 model and my one is a 2017 model. On both cars i have to remove the clutch pedal to change the cabin air filter as it is the drivers foot well and the clutch is hydraulic so a pain in the wazzoo to say the least. Only takes 45 minutes or so and a broken back so hey not all that bad. Lazy designers forget right hand drive models need parts changed also. If it was a LHD model it takes 5 minutes, i think car makers should be forced by law to make it the same for both markets even if it means making parts in mirrored fashion.
@MainMite06
@MainMite06 4 жыл бұрын
Alex Grant You two own RHD options on your Meganes? Most cars in the world are designed to be LHD & remodified to RHD for RHD markets for Britain,countries they influenced, or used to be British colonies in prime. It takes alot of effort,to make everything in a car symmetrical, manufacturers may end up making separate car models in the end to suit the needs
@alexgrant1979
@alexgrant1979 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for reply, the reason about my comment is most cars i repair in the UK as my job are mostly easy to change out service items. VW, Hyundai for example make it simple to change a cabin air filter. I have serviced both RHD and LHD models (some people in the UK own LHD models for reason or other) and its the same procedure just opposite sides so very easy. If the issue with our Meganes bothered me to extreme i would not have even bothered buying them but we do like them so i just have to take it on the chin. At least my issue is fairly small compared to the problem with Ford and the exhaust issue that affects the Mustang with the steering column.

If the computer detects that a sensor is faulty and relies on that sensor to detect if there is a problem with a system then it can't use a defective sensor to analyze the system so it would always be throwing false codes. It is akin to you trying to measure a distance using a ruler that is wrong, any measurement you get will be out of tolerance compared to other inputs.

When I was a master tech 20 years ago, we had a seminar where we learned that the O2 sensor maintenance interval was 60 thousand miles. It is a good idea to follow that advice. I can tell you that at least in the 90's, the Japanese PCM's rarely had an issue, but the GM and Chrysler corp controllers had MANY issues that mandated their replacement. The Toyota, Honda, and Subaru cars never got a new controller from me, but there was one Nissan car where the owner declined the needed replacement. HTH.

midnitesquirldog1 when someone crashed into and damaged my Ranger pickup, I agreed to let the insurance adjuster have it towed to a repair facility for inspection and to have it repaired. I wanted it bodywork repaired, because I liked it and it still drove perfect. She instead determined the body repairs would cost too much and she released it to a junkyard and made a total book value check for me. I was misled about what was happening, and so I had not removed all my personal belongings. In fact she told me that wasn’t necessary when I asked before it was towed. It was hell of an effort, really a day’s work of phone calls and going to the junkyard twice, to get my toolbox back from the junkyard. I lost some other things like my favorite music cd’s and a book, umbrella, little tools, change, etc. because they had cleaned it all out except for the toolbox that had been locked and bolted into the truck bed.

I have several customers with properly maintained(synthetic oil every 5k) 08-12 accords over 200k not using oil. 03-07 accord 4cyl is a fantastic car if yours is using oil then you bought it from someone who didn't care or you didnt care.
