Never see them here biggest and coolest thing here I see all the time is a woman with a white european version Land Cruiser in white. Big V8 diesel but it's not that dependable. That's why she's gonna get rid of it. I mean it's got 187.000km on it, and all of our customers get rid of their cars before they hit 200.000km Cars are just unreliable peaces of junk made by moneyhugging snob-companies.

My dad has 2017 Rav4 and it still working like we bought it yesterday. Proper maintenance is the key here. Now, I am looking for cars that can serve me well.

Such an under appreciated vehicle. My parents bought an 04 sequoia brand new off the show room floor. My siblings and I grew up in it. We traveled everywhere in it. My dad is gone now and I’m the proud owner of the vehicle. My dads seat was empty for years, but now my boy fills that seat along with my wife who drive in it every day. 200k+ miles and has never let us down. When my day comes, my son will drive it and pass it down to his son one day.

I had a 2003 Sequoia rear wheel drive. It had about 187k miles when I bought it. It hadn't been taken care of. I did a full maintenance and preventative maintenance on it myself. I drove that thing to over 328k miles before I spun it off the road backwards on an icy Highway, The tow hitch dug into the soft shoulder and it flipped end over end and then started rolling longitudinally. I rolled around 270 ft before landing on all 4. The Sequoia was still running and I had VERY minor injuries. I picked up all my belongings and drove it at a shallow angle up the soft steep embankment and drove it 100 miles home in 13f weather. I stopped once to pry the rocks out of the wheel bead and fill the tires with air. That was the only mechanical concern I had. That beast made it 100 miles home, into the garage and out several months later when Insurance finally came to tow it off. The tow truck driver asked if it ran, it started instantly and he drove it on his flatbed. I'm actually looking to get rid of the 21 Tundra I bought to replace it and am searching for a 4x4 2nd gen sequoia. They're not perfect, but I wouldn't hesitate to trust them with my life for a second. 328K miles and it ran like a top after 187k of poor treatment.

I got $2200 less for my Tacoma than when I bought it and was feeling transmission issues and rear end issues in it already. Got out of my payment and paid cash difference for a 179k mile sequoia that drives excellent. Little stuff need to fix but the difference in quality between old Toyota and new Toyota is just night and day difference.

George Smith Absolutely false! It doesn’t cost thousands, it is closer to $800 for parts and labor. The manifold is the part that has the issue, not the engine. It has to do with the design of the manifolds, weight and ability to pass emissions. I know because I have dealt with this issue on my 4Runner.
@lordofwar9638
@lordofwar9638 4 жыл бұрын
George Smith That’s YOUR mechanic. I’ve experienced the same problem, but I paid under $1,000 for mine. As previously stated, IT’S NOT THE ENGINE! It IS the manifolds. If you put headers on there, they won’t crack. You probably pay a ton for your oil changes too. 😂

If you could get your hands on a 2004 4-runner they are full time 4wd but have a center locker if stuck. I used mine in rocky tough terrain and even had extreme mud on the main road going up to the cabin after torrential rains and never had to lock anything, even on icey roads I could floor it and it would go in a straight line. I see lots of them all year models in Colorado... they love them. It would be perfect for Alaska

Scotty I just bought a 2005 Sequoia SR5 2x4 with 200,000 miles on it, for $2200, from the original owner and all paperwork since purchase, California truck with zero rust. Given a few negligible small issues, like the hatch handle is stuck, but I can open it from the inside, hatch window motor is siezed, TPMS light on because all sensors needs replaced etc. Overall, super comfortable SUV, I have the bench seat in the back so I can haul 8 instead of 7 adults, even came with Nav radio. I have a 3 mile drive to work so I'm not worried about the mileage, just like the Civic I was driving before it. I see a lot of these out there super cheap, this is an excellent vehicle that people overlook and buy some garbage that doesn't last anyway.

Recently bought an 08 Platinum with the 5.7L which has the timing chain instead of the belt. That and a lot of other changes in the second gen Sequoias makes them very desirable here in CO. We got it at auction so it was about $5,000 cheaper than retail but the Limited and Platinum models still go for $15,000 or more at the dealerships. The thing is as solid as a rock, massively roomy for the family and tows like a beast but actually gets about the same highway mileage as my 09 Tacoma.
