Hi pete… may I just say you have inspired me to no end. I have always wanted to get into bonsai but never had the confidence to even learn let alone try. After watching endless videos of yours I gained that confidence, mainly due to how simple you make it look and your explanations. I actually visited you with my girlfriend not so long ago (I probably looked like I might rob the place) and it inspired me even more. Although basic I eventually bought a jade (money tree). Took it out, trimmed roots, re potted, shaped and pruned. I’m so proud of it I thought I would share. Thank you

I may never get a chance there but every KZfaq video of yours is a learning opportunity for me. I purchased a Himalayan pine for me, it's about 10-15 yrs old and 4 feet tall. But it does not satisfy my itch for Japanese black pine. JBP is very hard to score here in India. I've seen a few sellers online but they are not genuine as reviews said. I'm trying to grow it from seeds. Please help as how to grow a JBP plant from cone.

@Josef_R
@Josef_R 2 жыл бұрын
@@YasuiBonsai Because jins should be natural, but everyone does it because it's "the thing to do." Natural would be a small number of them in your collection, not every time you cut a branch off.
@YasuiBonsai
@YasuiBonsai 2 жыл бұрын
@@Josef_R well of course in bonsai you mostly have to make the Jin, just like you have to stunt the growth and effectively dwarf the tree. It’s a copy of nature. I do understand your frustration of course. I just think if it happens in nature for that species then it’s ok to simulate it.
@Josef_R
@Josef_R 2 жыл бұрын
@@YasuiBonsai Of course you have to make it. But you don't have to make it every time you cut a branch. That's all I see people doing. They think the whole point of a bonsai is to jin it up.
@YasuiBonsai
@YasuiBonsai 2 жыл бұрын
@@Josef_R yeah I do see your point. I think Peter was just showing what could be made out of dead branches instead of just cutting them off, it’s something out of nothing especially for a new person they may not realise that’s possible but I do understand that it’s sometimes too much.
