Upon a second viewing I better understand what is happening here. The words for the overly long questions given to the performer no doubt by the shows writers were being placed at various points in the music the music being actual clue. That's why the clue took long - they are classical listening clues - for me, the writers of the clues are at all fault for putting quite genius piano playing at their mercy - notice the Gershwin segment - look how fast that is - because the music is fast.

I absolutely hated this as a Jeopardy category. The clues took WAY too long, and Felder's voice and delivery were so quiet and slow that it was often hard to hear him. (Was it edited for this KZfaq presentation?) The music is fine as music. This just wasn't a good fit for Jeopardy IMO. But let's face it, Jeopardy is veering more and more lately into "Here's a category which is really just a commercial-- or a political message-- and we think you're too stupid to realize it".

The clues here should have been musical and vocal, placing the placard with the clue at the end. Of course it is much faster to read the placard, and not account for the measures of music that have to be demonstrated underneath the question - in which respect, Felder managed miraculously to make the clue fit the music which is why it seems long, but actually isn't. I think shorter clues (I doubt felder wrote them as I don't think an institution like jeopardy would allow that) but he did do as best as one could given what he was given in that situation it seems. Amazing actually to play all those notes and words that are not natural given that they are clues and not narrative.

Besides, that day was only DJ! and FJ! since SJ! has been played earlier. If you recognize, this category was twice as long as most other categories.
