As indicated in the intro I added, this video disappeared from the "library" somehow. KZfaq is trying to figure out what happened. Anyway, here it is again. Hope this doesn't happen much, because generally with over 2,000 videos posted, we'd never know. A loyal viewer noticed that this video was gone and asked me about it.

Yep, this video was posted back in July; however, it disappeared somehow. KZfaq is looking into it and trying to figure out what happened. Nothing controversial about the video, so I'll reserve my paranoia for other more suspicious issues out there. Hard to figure, though. If you post videos and such, you know that deleting a video is a three or four step process, so it's not like you can accidentally touch the wrong key and delete a video, as we've all probably done with a piece of text in a word processing document. Thankfully, a loyal viewer notified me that he could not find it; otherwise, videos could possibly disappear without our maybe ever knowing it.

@Aragorn90 And what does that mean? Don't forget there's a whole planet here, and most of us "leftists" are the ones fighting to protect our weapons and hunting rights from the Authoritarians. Libertarian and liberal share the same root word: liberty. We're not the ones trying to encroach on your liberty, so stop attacking us and giving the real bad guys cover to do what they want.

The Google Goons strike again. Several of my videos are not visible from my channel page. Those videos still exist, they have not been deleted, they just are not visible when someone visits the channel videos page. Unless they resort the display from oldest to newest, then they show up, but the order may be scrambled. This seems to be happening to both gun channels and conservative political channels. Given Google track record, it`s hard to believe it`s not intentional.

Thanks for re-posting this. I took my three sons and uncle to see Tombstone, while vacationing in Saint Augustine, Fl. I’ll never forget the look on my uncle’s face, at the end of the movie when I told him he was 13 years old when Wyatt Earp died. A good memory for me. I have watched Tombstone countless times. There was another infamous individual from the days of the Wild West, who was well known for his specialty revolver, although he has been given short shrift by the historians. He was an early organised crime figure named Megalito Luvless, his special-order short barrelled revolver was known as a runtline special. The gun became popular for self defense in later generations, but under a different name - the snub-nose. Maybe the buntline was named after this revolver?

There's an order someone came up with that was written by Earp to Colts factory. It stated he wanted it to have a barrel that came up even to the ejecting rod. Gun to have Gutta Percha grips, meaning hard rubber. So that would put the barrel length at 4-3/4" long. Much easier to get out of the holster. as he said, take your time in a hurry.

I love the history lessons that we get from your videos. You give just enough to get me interested in the story so I will look into it. I have learned so much because of you. I wish I was working at the Gunshop/range now instead of 22 years ago.i thought I had a great knowledge of firearms. I had enough to be able to appraise firearms for insurance companies. I was the guy that did it for the shop. I would do whole collections and individual firearms. I have seen some very rare firearms when I lived in Colorado. I know you don't want us to believe you so we do look it up. I bet you were many kids favorite teacher. I know you would have been mine. I would sell fishing lures to mist of the staff at my highschool that fished because I had a business in school making fishing equipment for a school class and club DECA, Distributive Education Club of America. I'm sure you have heard of it being a teacher. We would also talk about shooting andy dad and I got a few teachers to go fish a tournament with us in separate boats. My dad went to school with a few of my teachers. It was great times. You make me want to buy a old CVA black powder rifle or pistol kit to assemble and stain myself. You already got me to buy 2 Glocks. Happy Safe Shooting 🇺🇸💪

In your July posting I pointed out that the buntline was made to be used with a detachable stock. That would classify it as an SBR. My Grandfather was a gunsmith and invented a way to convert a single action into a semi auto and wrote a novel about an old west gunsmith that knew his secret conversion and gave one to an old time lawman. The outlaws would count his shots and rush him when they thought he was empty. To their surprise his gun never ran dry.

I don’t understand, with a cylinder of only six rounds how would his gun never run dry?
@stevewilliams7852
@stevewilliams7852 2 жыл бұрын
@@BrockNessMonster1991 He first removed the cover from the loading port on the right side of the cylinder and made it the ejection port. Then ground a loading port on the left side of the cylinder. He also channeled the escaping gas from between the cylinder and the barrel to the ejection port to eject the spent bullet. As long as you were loading while firing you won't run dry.

Ned Buntline, a "dime novelist" of less literary stature than folks like F. Scott Fitzgerald, bragged to the world that he had given a 12-inch barreled Colt SAA to Wyatt Earp. There is no evidence that Wyatt Earp ever carried it, or even possessed it. I think that some people have written that Colt sold three of them to Mr. Buntline, but where these revolvers wound up nobody knows.

I own that buntline special Wyatt Earp model. It's cool. Sights are good, and it's a hell of a lot of fun to shoot. There is record of people(mostly Buffalo hunters and plainsmen) ordering longer than 7 inch barrels. One of the most famous is a 16 inch barrel saa with a saddle holster and an attachable buttstock. That being said the Wyatt Earp myth seems to vome from a "long barrel colt" given as a gift to Wyatt for target shooting. I put "long barrel colt" in quotes because that was what his wife said about a gun he received as a gift that he ended up storing away and never carried. But thats the only record of him owning a "buntline". And it would seem that he was given it sometime after the events at tombstone, as she spoke as if she was there when he received it. They obviously weren't that popular with gunfighters, but if you wanna hit a target at 100 yards it's not a bad choice. I prefer a 7 inch barrel personally, though I own a modified 4 inch barrel reproduction for fast draw with wax bullets and such. 7 inch just feels right when drawing and shooting.

I have the Taylor/ Uberti 1873 Cattlemen .45colt & it has a51/2 barrel with color case frame & the gun is so nice, that I won't let my retired law man brother touch it! Or my deputy Sheriff nephew shoot it either! It's one of my prized possessions! I do shoot it periodically! But I am the only one that shoots it! It is accurate for a period revolver! My Ruger Blackhawk with adjustable sights is more accurate! So I shoot the 1873 for personal fun. I hunt & on occasions will let another person shoot the big Ruger! But the Uberti, is just too nice to let others scuff it up! I've had the Ruger for 41 years & recently got it re-blued & got the fancy checkered rose wood grips & haven't let my brothers shoot it! Not after the fiasco my brother caused when I first bought the Ruger; he asked if he could look at it & I said yes, my dad & I stepped out on the porch,he had an electrical problem we were working on & while we were outside... I had told my brother the revolver was loaded....& I thought since he was a State Police officer that he knew about Ruger revolvers; apparently he did not know it was safe to carry all 6 rounds in a Blackhawk with a transfer bar! While dad & I were outside; we heard a loud bang!! My know it all police officer brother... kicked out 5 live rounds & took aim at a photo of a deer on the calendar which was hanging on the side of my mother's new refrigerator! He aimed,cocked the hammer & squeezed the trigger! That was the bang we heard! Dad & I ran inside to see if everyone was OK? My brother just stood there with the revolver in a Weaver stance that he learned in police academy! My mother came into the kitchen & got really upset, because my brother had " killed" her new refrigerator! Then she got mad at me for letting him handle the gun! I told her,that I told my cop brother that the gun was loaded & dad backed me up! But the fun part was, I retrieved the big 250grain lead slug,which had missed all the" vital organ components " of the refrigerator & dad took some " bondo" & spray painted over the hole..and that refrigerator worked for another 15 years!... but I had to promise my mom,that I would never let my police man brother shoot that Ruger again! Mom & dad are now passed on & my brother has his own Ruger Blackhawk in .357 & is semi retired; but his son is a deputy Sheriff & so I don't let him shoot my Blackhawk either!

You can still buy most uberti made reproductions without the modern safety, its really a matter of choice. They have a section on their website for both types, except in the case of the one off reproduction like the 1875 which is only made with a fixed firing pin.

I realize this video is alittle older. But figured I'd comment all the same. I can completely understand the historical inaccuracies. But just like when the novels were written. It really doesn't matter much at all. The idea of the stories and the feeling they give people can often matter far more. For alot of people Wyatt Earp will always be Mr Russell Slapping a poser in a saloon. At the end of the day that's fine. Its still a very cool gun. Many guns are not practical at all. Some in actual real stories. Have loved your videos since way back. Thank you for what you do.

I think that Bat Masterson stated that he had his presentation Buntline cut down to 7-1/2" which he said was "A much more manageable length."

I'd wager that Hickok has learned, since the day this video was made(but for the viewer in late 2020), that Cimarron includes a flush cylinder pin retention screw with the Old Model framed Ubertis it sells nowadays. Look for a plastic bag in the hidden recesses of the Cimarron box.

What’s interesting to me is how good the 45 colt cartridge can be in a “defensive” setting. I mean Skeeter Skelton’s load for 44 mag is a 240 grain at around 1000 FPS, which is very close to a 45 colt with a 255 grain bullet with 6 grains of unique...... makes me wonder *starts looking for ruger in 45 colt*

Redhawks, Blackhawks and Super Redhawks are for you then. .45 Colt for the first two, .454 Casull for the last which, like .357 will chamber .38 and .44 Magnum will chamber .44 Russian and .44 Special, .454 Casull will chamber .45 Colt and Schofield

Wyatt Earp's mother's name was Virginia Ann Cooksey, my family is related through her. I've researched Wyatt Earp quite a lot, and that Buntline is basically the replica of a movie prop. The theory of his sidearm being 7.5" is a good one; there is quite a bit of evidence that supports the idea that he carried a 5.5" through much of his LE career. Awesome video and great one handed shooting with that SAA!

The "Buntline" could be more legend than fact. Reportedly named after fiction writer Ned Buntline (hence the "Special" moniker,) he may've presented one as a gift to Wyatt, but no evidence he ever carried it. Wyatt also carried a top break model 3 S & W at one time (or could've been a Schofield.)

Maybe he carried one just for buffalowing bad guys. In the movie Wyatt Earp (not tombstone) he was disliked because he hit people over the head a lot and they thought that he was to quick to (buffalo) people. I'm sure that buntline was very good for that.
