From childhood to adults we all deal with pressure. Get good grades, play the right sports, be the very best at everything you do. Get the right job, perfect marriage, neighborhood. It can eat you alive. And most of the time we don't even realize the pressure we put on others and ourselves.

Sometimes you don't realize that you are under "so much pressure." My brother embezzled me (we worked together in our dad's business) after both my mom and dad had died. After a 20-year estrangement with him, I found out that the left main artery to my heart was 89% blocked, and that I needed a triple bypass open-heart surgery. I HAD NO SYMPTOMS. Stress and pressure kills! I was walking around not knowing that I was a ticking time bomb. Now, here I am 16 years later living on borrowed time. God is good, and life is beautiful 😊🙏

It's uncanny how much this song relates with modern times. I see it play out every day of my life. No one can handle pressure anymore. Every one must handle pressure or society breaks.

And starting when he made this video and continuing now, we are bombarded with input - audio, visual, text - coming at us too fast to comprehend. It is still a very relevant song. The solution is to meter your inputs, take time to process, put time to unplug in your schedule. Make up a meeting and schedule it if you have to. Experience silence for a time. Spend time with people minus technology. You don't have to give it up entirely, but we all need a break even if we don't realize it.

This song beautifully describes the crucible life puts all of us through. As Joel says, we all need to look inside to find the strength to handle the pressure. It's not a sad thing, it's a human thing. We cannot be our best as humans without going through this process and learning to deal with the pressure. It's called becoming a fully functioning adult.

Weirdly, you guys are spot on about the scary sound. When this song came out, MTV used this song for their theme song for the Halloween season. I've always included this one on Halloween playlists. Our world does have too much pressure, and focus on the wrong things. Being yourself and doing what is best for you needs to be a daily thing too.
