As a therapist who works with all kinds of people in all kinds of relationships where people are not safe from their partners, I can agree that being open is ideal, but not always a safe option. Sometimes people don’t want their partners to feel more powerful in their own skin. And when that happens, it can be dangerous in ways unrelated to medication side effects

If that guy is leaving her over the medication and they have 3 kids, there is something else going on and he’s just using this as an excuse.

My hubby knows and is supportive. He has traveled over a hour to get my meds twice when I couldn't find my dosage . I am down 56 pounds

I live alone but told my sons, who are my emergency contacts. Also told a neighbor, who knows if my car doesn't move, to check on me.

My husband knows and takes a very small amount himself. My issue was being a dietitian and getting judgements from medical professionals I felt like I had to hide it from them. Once I realized one of my patients lost weight and got on the transplant list. When I realized for the first time I can save lives. I told everyone and took the beating.

I’m on some glp-1 message boards and some women have shared that their husbands constantly try to undermine them, sabotage them, mock their efforts etc. ideally everyone would have a wonderful supportive partner, but sadly there are some abusive people out there.

My husband, kids and mother all know that I am taking Mounjaro, and they are very supportive. My husband read the information insert so he is aware of side effects, and he has looked into symptoms of Type 2 diabetes in case I should any signs of hyperglycemia or hypoglycemia. I can’t imagine having my husband walk out on me over medication.

Hey Ali! Two things. For me, my husband and I share finances and the cost is not something you can hide and 2. Even though it is not necessary, I enjoy the support of my spouse during the good and bad times. So sorry everyone doesn’t have this type relationship. Married 35 years. I feel for spouses who can not share this journey either their significant other. Be safe!

I couldn't imagine not having my husbands support on this journey. He gives me my shot every week. My heart hurts for the person who doesn't feel like they can tell their partner.

My husband knows and doesn’t really care. For him it’s just a medication. I am taking for my diabetes that has replaced my other diabetic medications. I’ve been a diabetic for over 20 years. he is super happy and proud of the weight loss that has come with it because he has also seen all of the significantlifestyle changes I have told immediate family who are very supportive and excited and happy for me, but I don’t really care to tell acquaintances and feel that it is not enough their business how I manage my health.

I am very lucky my husband is very supportive🥰!! We were at the doctors office together when my doctor asked me if I would like to try Mounjaro. I looked at my husband and he looked at me and he said whatever you want to do I’m behind you 💯% ! And like you said Ali it’s very important to be honest with your significant other so in case something goes wrong they will have the information to give to medical staff. Have a good day Ali and thank you very much for your wonderful support group and your wonderful videos 🥰!!!

I didn't tell my husband until I had the prescription in hand. I just knew if I told him before I got the meds, he would try to talk me out of taking them. To be clear, he is a sounding board and not my boss! He couldn't be mad when I told him but had several concerns about the long term effects of GLP1s. Now every time there is some article about the bad effects of GLP1s, he brings it up. Every time I complain about any physical ailment, like fatigue or ingestion, it has to be the meds. It's obviously in our refrigerator which he can see it but I do leave the room to do my injections. My husband is a worrywart and that can be a hassle but you gotta tell the other adult people in your household. So, I get not wanting any pushback. But that just seems like a lot of effort to keep secret when you live in the same household.

Can you, please please please. Talk about the Glp-1 medications stigma and shaming? I work at the hospital as a PCT and I told a doctor who I was covering that I’m taking mounjaro, and she said you should not lose weight because of the loose skin you would look better being overweight with no loose skin than be skinny with loose skin :/!! She also was rambling and saying that everyone could lose weight but people who use it lack will power 😅 she honestly made me so angry and upset because of how close minded she was. Like people don’t care about any medication you would take and the side effects but somehow theu care for you, because it changes your appearance and make you look better? Please talk about it I dont see enough people covering this topic Much appreciated ❤

@@melissam6037 I didn't share this with anyone in my life expect my family, and they were okay with it in fact my mom and sisters encouraged me to use it. My mom is in her mid 50s and she knows how difficult it is to have chronic illness, and she is on 5 different medications. I really regret telling the doctor about my Mounjaro experience. We were casually talking about feeling dizzy and dehydration. I told her that I'm taking the med and I feel dehydrated because of it, and that's where it all started. I was shocked because I didn't know that would come off from a medical practitioner. Who should at less not be so judgemental. It felt like she would want to ban these med if she had the power to do!

I don't get that at all. I understand people keeping it from others in general, but a spouse? This is a sign of something deeper in the relationship. I hope this person is in a safe situation.

My spouse, kids, and close coworkers know. My mom (I’m 63), still doesn’t know. I just can’t bring myself to tell her… 9 months since my diagnosis, but she doesn’t know I’m T2D, either. 🤷‍♀️
