On a more philosophical note, I miss the era of makeup education that was focused on techniques, working with your own features and utilizing the products to their maximum potential, instead of just using the newest coolest products and trendy makeup, there is a place for it, sure, but the basics are irreplaceable.

Wayne Goss still does a lot of technique videos, so we still have at least one other creator giving that kind of current content. A lot of his videos are super short and to the point. That's especially nice when you're just wanting a rundown of how to do a thing with a little background of the why it works.

Your technique tutorials have helped me turn my life around. I have psoriasis and rosacea, as well as social anxiety and depression, and my confidence was through the floor. I wasn't socialising at all even pre-pandemic, and I was so lonely. I'm not in work due to chronic illness and I rarely left my house or interacted with anybody. I'm not going to claim learning makeup techniques sole-handedly transformed my life, but it was absolutely instrumental in getting me back out into the world, which was the first & hardest step in my recovery. I'm not completely better, I still struggle with anxiety and self esteem, but I no longer hide in my room. I've started volunteering, I have weekly therapy and I'm just starting to develop a social life. It's not just the confidence that makeup gives when it comes to my appearance, it's also the satisfaction of learning and mastering new skills. I can't begin to tell you how rewarding that has been, after such a long period out of work! I'm currently applying to do a master's in Public Health (I'm a doctor) and am planning to begin a career in that field, something that was unimaginable a few years back when I was forced to give up my career due to illness. I've watched all of your back catalogue and am so excited for every new video! Thank you so much (not that I expect you or anyone to read this far.. if you did, I hope you have a wonderful day and thank you for your time 🖤🖤🖤) - Rosie

Thank you Lord Maclean. I’m 47 and I just now have seriously started wearing concealer and foundation. I have always been militant with skincare, but foundation is tricky. Instead of foundation, I prefer cream concealer (Bye Bye Undereye by IT Cosmetics) and John's stippling method. Then I spot treat anything that shows through...using a lighter concealer to camouflage dark spots and a darker concealer for lighter spots...until everything is even. Since concealer is highly pigmented, I need less product than a foundation, so it gives a more natural look. Good luck.

You are such a genius! Unfortunately though I have extremely dry skin therefore I cannot use buffing techniques (causes my skin to crack from the friction). If anyone else has similar skin, what I find works best for me is a cushion foundation. Because the applicator is flat and flexible, I find I have more room to get into crevices since it moves with your face and fingers. Also, most formulas for cushion foundation are quite watery so they're easier to blend and 'fill' pores with ease instead of sitting on top like a cream.

This video changed my life. I've watched a lot of MUAs on KZfaq. I couldn't get liquid foundation to work on my skin, sponges or brushes or fingers, powder or no powder - it would just crack and curdle on my face or show up my pores as white dots. Now I use these techniques and it doesn't matter if I use a £5 liquid foundation or a £40 one - it looks amazing.

For eye makeup an eye primer is a must! I also have oily skin and lids and just using powder or concealer makes the eyeshadow crease or fade unfortunately. I really like the urban decay eyeshadow primer! You need to look for an eyeshadow primer without oils (concealers usually have oils for hydration)
@MagdaaAnna
@MagdaaAnna Жыл бұрын
@Mara Loeters thanks for the tip! I have been using eye primers exclusively on the eyes, the one that has kinda worked for me is the makeup revolution cut crease canvas used as primer. I'll have to give the UD one a try 😊 Do you set your eye primer usually or do you go straight in with your shadow? I can't tell if setting the primer makes any difference in terms of longevity
@MaraLoeters
@MaraLoeters Жыл бұрын
@@MagdaaAnna I set it lightly with powder and then I go in with eyeshadow but I’m someone who likes a more washed out look and not very strong/pigmented so maybe then it’s best to go in directly with eyeshadow?
