I bring you!!!...high desert vivarium inspiration from northern New Mexico!
My son lives in Touse, New Mexico, and we visit him as often as we can. Every time I go there I try to find inspiration for desert and arid vivariums. It makes me wish I kept more desert species and on this trip I saw a lizard that I wished I could take home with me. Anyway, I thought I share some inspiration for your desert vivarium setups. I hope you enjoy the video.

These videos are so comfy and relaxing thanks for sharing your wealth of knowledge to us. I was born in Alamogordo nm. And it definitely is the land of the enchanted. I have memories of the sun setting on the Plateau’s and seems like it was from another life almost, very magical feeling. I’m now in Alabama and it’s very slept on when it comes to the habitat. I love both states and miss nm

This summer once I move into my new place I’m going to be setting up a vivarium for my mexican black king snake, and later an arizona mountain king once my mbk outgrows it. I’ve been researching about the area a lot and I’m really excited! I’ve also been stumped on what plants to use but I think I’ll be using a lot of small manzanita swigs that look similar to the sagebrush. I’m also going to attempt to use foam to carve realistic rock features so I hope that all works out.

A lot of the rocks in northern NM are basalts, sandstones/jaspers, and granitic.
