If you haven't yet seen this movie, *Watch it!* ...it's the *right* thing to do

So glad to see at least part of this fab older movie. It has it all. I love Red Rum's comment - makes it even better. Thanks.

Tom Selleck would have been a great Indiana Jones

+drpapa26 Strangely, learning that Selleck was considered for that role is what brought me to look for this movie. I agree, he would have been excellent in that role. Ford was excellent as well, though.

I only caught the end of this movie but it was a great vibe and feel, like Raiders of the Lost Arc but more fanciful and upbeat.

Have been a Magnum (the original) from day one. This movie never fails to strike a tickle or two.

A couple of things that I noticed while watching this movie: - How does Wilford Brimley get his diabeetus testings supplies 'right through the mail' if he's in the middle of rural China? - Tom Selleck's leather coat is totally boss.

I've always envied that coat! Today something like that, if made in Italy with high quality leather, would cost around 2k I think...

I would totally wear that thing everywhere.

I like the movie. The reason i read the book twice. Still imagine Tom and Bess as O' mally and Eve.

Based on a true story. And yes, they did get married in real life.

I'm kinda skeptical on the author's claims it was taken from an autobiography but would'n't totally rule out something less similar happened.

@@LandersWorkshopI urge you to read the book and decide for yourself. There's quite a bit that's been changed but it's a great read. I check some of it out and it seemed very real.

野口則幸 Zhongguo during the 1920's and 1930's provided much materiel for both cheap and expensive "exotic" drama on the white side of the Pacific ocean. The "warlord" era was a rich environment for soldiers of fortune, sensation-seeking journalists, authors, filmmakers and tough scholars. The paradigm-busting discoveries of actual Shang dynasty tombs were made during this period (which also led to incontrovertible, uncomfortable proof of ancient human sacrifice...
