For me it is the party dynamic, the HR people are just stellar role players who create great characters. And Mark is a great DM, and I am loving his take on this adventure. I love Aerois but CoS just has a level of polish that really shines with this group, it is very well put together.

Yep yep. The only thing I didn’t like about this campaign was resurrecting Xiros. I see why it happened so it doesn’t bother me too much, but the party more or less was using what agency they had to actively make sure Xiros died, so it felt like DM interference to raise him back up. Had a similar experience in an old Curse of Strahd game where the DM’s lizardfolk pc kept sticking around and antagonizing the party even though he was apparently there to “help” them. Despite the party’s numerous attempts to just kill him off because he was that dangerous and disruptive, the DM kept loading one deus ex machina after another to keep him around and didn’t take the hint that it wasn’t fun (or scary) to be constantly stressed out that this awful guy is glued to us. So this whole Xiros thing accidentally hit pretty close to home and I had some war flashbacks XD

For me it’s like Dead Reckoning where the characters and their dire circumstances makes you really want to know what’ll happen to them.

If you're referring to CR they've had those same moments of uncontrolled laughter. Not saying you can't prefer HR to CR, just saying the logic doesn't track.

I started watching high rollers first, but I’m a fan of both shows now, Trott and Tom’s giggle fit and the “shiver and quiff” debacle with the mighty nein have a very similar feel-people just setting each other off

With the rate at which they're progressing, both with personal stories and with the module's story, I'd say they're probably not making it to 20 unless they take a lot of detours.

Well I’d say 10-15 I mean it could be 20 but that would make a lot of the normal encounters kinda easy then again it’s highly edited and they don’t exactly have much holy magic on there side.

Sort of also depends how often Strahd comes in to stop them with Shadow etc

I think other Hat Bois take best friend for Trott, but they are definitely really close. It helps having worked together in the same office for like 5 years.

Defeating strahd matters more to them than his betrayal. I think they were very clear on their reasoning.

@@LordJuzzie Yes, I'm well aware of their excuse. It's BS, and if you buy it, you're probably well loved by all the salesman in your town. When I'm fighting for my life against great peril and opposition, the first person I want at my back is the person that openly says they'll sacrifice me to that same opposition if it saves him or his sister, sure. It's flat nonsensical. It's not edgy It's not the lesser of two evils. It's literally just increasing risk unnecessarily when there's already great risk. The risk outweighs the benefit in every way. That's the problem. No military general ever has said in the middle of a campaign "you've already betrayed us more than once and you've promised to betray us again as soon as the opportunity is justified, but we just need you as an ally" Your argument, and theirs, is just forced logic to justify their forced PC cohesion, which is why they don't make the same excuses for NPC villains who try to sacrifice them for their own personal pursuits but who also "don't like Strahd." Why not give those NPCs two+ betrayals since they "dont like Strahd?" Indeed, if an NPC happens to so much as insult the insanity of a werewolf (happens later), they'll kick them out of the group because "it's all about killing strahd." lol oh wait, suddenly the risk to the party is too great when it comes to unpleasant npcs. Just because you want something to be true doesn't mean it is. If the dragonborn were NPCs, they'd have been killed and left to rot, or at least abandoned, long ago. Him there makes no sense except with the mental bias of "he's one of the players I like."

@@unclebounce1495 Sounds like someone doesn't know much about the history of WW2. Soviet Union, signing a pact with the germans at the begining of the war, carving parts out of Poland, Then become they become an ally, because the enemy of my enemy is my friend. Xiros is a allied to a power that is hostile to Strahd. Sometimes thats all it takes. Xiros also is pretty straight forward. He only ever really lies by omission. Just because it doesn't make sense to you doesn't mean it doesn't make sense to that charchter and the way they have decided to play them. Xiros was a member of the party who had been with them, and helped them and had an understandable motive for agreeing to this deal. Thats what would set him apart from a random NPC they met. The players of those charchters would know better than you how they would respond in a given situation. Also I've not gotten as far as the Werewolf you are refering to, and I have never played the Strahd campaign so, please don't spoil.

They should just kick their irl friend Tom out of the game because of his fantasy character's decision to make a pact in a dark fantasy game full of dark pacts, makes sense
