Serious shout out to Mark Hulmes for the fucking awesome poems at the beginning, it is not easy to write good poetry that doesn't seem cheesy. Cheers mate, feel like it really sets the stage for the mood of the session.

When I first heard the poem at the beginning, I almost turned it off. I'm just not much on poetry. By the fourth or fifth episode, I found myself looking forward to them.

The group has been together for four days and these are the things that have happened Xiiki fell in battle and came back Xiros made a deal with the devil himself Xiros killed his bone bro The group has argued and hatted each other for a while Strhad pulls up outta no where to steal a book Shadow dies and is gonna come back as a vampire to fight the others The party find a shirtless homeless man that is insane Irena is the reincarnation of strahds brother lover They fight spirits Xiros mark Tatiana/ Irena Xiros loses his only friend Xiros dies and comes back as the devils servant The group argue again The group decided to make up a little They fight vampires and find a sword to kill strahd Xiiki basically has the powers of a god They decided to meet a insane wizard Meet insane wizard He tries to kill xiros but doesn't Takes them in And kicks them out the next day Now remember this has all happened in the span of FOUR DAYS!! I'm keeping this list

The place they were in is one of my favorite spells by far because of the sheer potential for creativity. And I think Mark has been NAILING the Mad Mage and the party has nailed the RP! (Seriously that whole backstory segment was AMAZING!) Also that ending really was an, “oh... shit” moment for sure

I must add to the other comments that RP is on point in this episode. Mark was superb especially as the Mad Mage, but the dialogue between players was excellent, especially Kim and Katie.

Dogsbodys story hit me hard! Not only because, you know, the content, but I also now play an aasimar paladin in my regular game, who has a sister, which was a paragon of doing the right thing and got missing...

I didn't think I'd be able to think of the mad mage as anybody but Matthew Lillard, but by golly Mark you really brought him to life

I didn't see that one. Sam Witwer's turn on DCA was inspired but Mark pulls off an amazing Mad Mage. Things like this are one of the best thing about D&D. You can go any number of directions with an idea and a lot of them end up turning out so well.

Damn, Strahd doesn't play around. I smell a potential TPK incoming but hopefully not. I want to see Yesper and Xiros duke it out first. Team Xiros.

Xiros is a badass, and Yesper fighting him seems inevitable, but I personally want to see that sweet sweet redemption arc. Fingers crossed.

#TeamYesper Xiros is such an asshole! Yesper and his people have lived under the tyranny of Strahd for so long, to have the people he thought would help him betray everything he stands for and make deals with beings older, more evil and probably much more powerful than Strahd understandably fills him with anger (especially considering the blade that killed Madame Ava (idk how to spell it) was converted into a weapon that is now wielded by a devil worshipping meanie). I hope Xikki doesn't become the new Strahd and just replace one tyrant with another. ;-;

@@Oogbae yeah, but honestly Yesper was too quick to trust strangers and he paid for it, I'm not defending Xiros but Yesper was desperate and thought they hated Strahd as much as him, but how could they? Yesper cares about the people of Barovia Xiros does not he cares about Xiki. Barovia is a domain of dread it must have a dark lord, I foresee Xiki as the dark lord with Xiros as her guardian/enforcer.

@@Oogbae ugh, Yesper is the asshole. He brings these people into a realm of darkness and terror, and leads them to their deaths. Then complains about their methods of how they try to help him free the land from the ancient dread lord vampire. Xiiki dies in a house he led them to for a clue. Shadow dies, her body taken to become a vampire spawn. Then willingly ignores a dying Xiros, allowing his soul to be claimed by Asmodeus. Aside from the meta perspective of a new player character joining as a replacement, half of his troupe have died under his leadership. But, "Eww, you made a deal that'll almost guarantee my suicide mission will be a success."

at 44:30 i thought mark was saying "ismark is saying to you" not "this is mark saying to you" LIKE LOL I DIDNT REALISE THE NAMES WERE BASICALLY SO CLOSE TO EACH OTHER

Definitely would like to have Mordenkainen's Mansion! That spell is the coolest! And yes, those elemental servants are my personality EXACTLY. Happy to help, very patient to help, no need to thank, It's what I do best. I have never felt so understood by a character! Or an elemental/humanoid at least. All the lore! This is a great episode! Backstories are the best in D&D! MK is definitely a very tragic character in CoS and you feel bad for him. He's lost his mind after fighting Strahd so he's probably got PTSD, could be paranoid schizophrenic, a whole lot of mess happening in that guys head.
