I admire Trott's restraint / commitment in these episodes. He has to *know* meta-gaming-wise how it is Strahd keeps finding them, but he never lets that impact how he plays his character, who doesn't know. That would be a hard temptation for a lot of players to resist.

I've never played CoS before, so could you please explain to me how he keeps finding them? My idea is that someone in the group is a traitor, and the spirits didn't look at Xiros when chanting "Traitor" in the silver dragon's mansion so..is it right? Or is is something else entirely?

@@ventrique2063 ahhh ok fair I watched another CoS campaign and they had it as saying his name meant he could scry on the players but could have been a home ruling, should have checked before I posted :p So Strahd can possess the players? That's wild he's already so powerful!

Definitely my favourite character in this campaign. So incredibly flawed, but he's unshakeable in his convictions and unapologetic for his actions. That kind of "By Any Means Necessary" attitude is totally badass, but also very dangerous. I like it a lot. I do think it's a little bit of a shame he respecced into a half paladin half fighter hybrid, because he feels so much less potent in combat now that he's lost multi-attack and some of his superiority dice. Smites are amazing, don't get me wrong, but he has like 3 spell slots and an absolutely busted weapon, so the tradeoff of multi-attack for Smites feels a bit bad. Makes sense in game though so, eh, I guess it's not all bad.

Xiros' stubbornness always makes me flinch, but I can't lie, I love a character who goes against the grain. He refuses to do things any way other than his own and I always love the party member who's like that.

Xiki is in a very awkward Warlock/Sorcerer multiclass, because of her death. Her spells are not that good at this point anyway (her best option is level 2 guiding bolt). She probably should have picked up agonizing blast + eldritch blast though.

This campaign has just had the best moments with the luck to back it up. Don't get me wrong, I love the Aerois characters, but something about the way this campaign has gone, all of the players just seem a bit more devil-may-care and its led to some amazing moments

I hate that they’ve completely given up/forgotten the promise they made to the windmill ghosts. They promised to right the wrongs done to them and have utterly abandoned those children to never pass on and allow more kids to die to the hags and pie maker.

I like Mark’s take on the mad mage here but Sam Witwer on Dice Camera Action guest starring as Mordenkainen was brilliant.

It's the little fan touches that made Witwer's Mordenkainen so memorable. The spot on imitation and homage to his original player, E. Gary Gygax, and the innumerable references to how 1st Edition AD&D was played. The only thing is I'm not quite happy with the referencing that brings Mordenkainen into Curse of Strahd. The Mad Mage is the epithet of one Halaster Blackcloak of Waterdeep. And Tracy Hickman and his wife wrote the original Castle Ravenloft mod. Not that any of that has anything to do with either portrayal. I just find the inclusion rather surreal.

I am anticipating it, it is already overdue. As to who will win I think that will depend on when it happens and who attacks whom. Also who the party decides to help.

I know what tower Mark is talking about! One of my favorite DCA episodes has that tower pretty heavily featured. And about the Amber Temple, also a favorite stretch of mine in DCA. I was wondering about the Abbot of St Markovia though - he's not still bonkers in this run thru is he? He was pretty crazy in the aforementioned series and I'm curious about him in this version. And Mordenkainen (MerdyKerdy) still running about doing his ramblings? A very strange wizard indeed. I think he's got some kind of brain damage from what happened with Mr S-pants before he turned mad. Another thing I was wondering, is St Markovia's bones still in the halls below Ravenloft? Maybe if Xiiki did what they did in the other run, she could get rid of the dark powers? Or no since she's already died and the powers brought her back? I wish we could've seen where that went and if Xiiki really could've been freed from the powers. Guess we'll never know now. :(

Banishment actually does not work in Barovia, if it did, PCs could banish each other home, they would be scattered but away from Barovia. Page 24: Alterations to magic

It would be a bit weird if it worked, since it's literally the only thing keeping Strahd inside. No one can leave Barovia by any means, be it teleportation or plane shifting or otherwise. Not even Asmodeus could pull Xiros's soul to Avernus when he died, hence why he let him stay as his champion
