It was an all time great season because they won the conference, conference tournament and made the final 4 and title game and not to mention they went undefeated. But they couldn’t get the big one in the end

It was the first game for the Zags too. They also played 6 (yes, s-i-x) new faces. Not knocking what you’re saying about Kansas, but assuming Gonzaga is at their ceiling or didn’t show an abundance of areas for improvement is also incorrect. What an opener though

@@kylethomas9963 woah woah six new faces? Look at the minutes played. Only three new faces got meaningful minutes. You say new faces but Cook has 3 years D1 experience and Nembhard has 2 years D1 experience. That only leaves Suggs who was the #11 ranked high school player. Kansas had 3 new faces also, Thompson, the #21 hsp, Grant-Foster who has 2 years JUCO experience and Wilson who only played a game last year before a season ending injury. So technically Gonzaga has the edge there. If we move on to the veterans from last year's teams, GU has 97.6 minutes, and 39.2 pts combined from 4 players. KU has 98.4 minutes, and 31.4 points combined from 4 players. We can throw in Enarauna's production to make it 5 players which equals 109.4 minutes and 33.8 points combined. Though he only got most of them minutes last year because of DeSouza and McCormick getting suspended and Lightfoot taking the redshirt. Even if I add his minutes and points, GU still has 6 points more of veteran offense from last year than KU. Yes this was Gonzaga's first game too, and yes they played better for the most part and where leading by double digits for a long period of the game. I still like KU's chances come March. If this was a game mid season, then yes I would be worried, but it's not. We'll be more battle tested going through the BIG12 this year and if this virus doesn't stop March Madness, GU is going to see a different team. RCJH

@@ksb9133 Yes, my point still stands - six new faces. 3 of those guys didn’t have many minutes, true, but they actually got their minutes in a meaningful first half stretch. So, I’m not sure why you’re excluding them when my point was that most of the team hasn’t played alongside each other in the same uniform before today - and will only improve their chemistry and understanding of the sets from here. Also, your comparison between minutes/points doesn’t really show me anything except that KU’s vets played more minutes but scored less points. Like I said before, I’m not disagreeing that KU will improve and have as good of a chance as anybody. We’re only one game in, Self is a HOF coach, and the roster has plenty of talent. I’m saying that assuming Gonzaga doesn’t have a lot of room to improve is incorrect - so if they do meet again in March, KU will see a different team that will be plenty tested as well. (Also, the Zags play KU, Baylor, and WVU this non-con so if they sweep, they’re the big 12 champs. Sorry man, I don’t make the rules.)

Lol Big 12 champs? That's a stretch. So if KU or anyone else for that matter beats GU, they're automatically WCC champs? Since the WCC is weak and GU is the only legit team. It doesn't mean squat, good one tho🙄

Luis Perez What a dumb comment. Stockton was nothing like Suggs; that’s the point... Also, Gonzaga’s true basketball history starts in the late 90s at the beginning of their era of gradual dominance. Stockton was a random one off that became an all time great. Again though, he was nothing like Suggs.

Suggs is first ever 5 star recruit to attend Gonzaga.

Nah zags never had this type he plays like a young Derrick rose if he keeps this going I would say he’s gonna have a better career at Gonzaga then Morrison but Adam also played 3 years in college

@@rickyism1576 Suggs with the stare down and Drew Timme with the raise the roof. I don’t mind getting pumped up, stare downs are pretty cheap though. Sadly it’s just apart of the game nowadays. They shouldn’t be insecure any more, there’ll always be haters but Gonzaga has proved they’re always one of the best teams in the nation. I understand the enmity when playing these “blue blood” programs though.

Zags got swag. Jalen Suggs is first 5 star and highest rated recruit ever for Gonzaga. 5 out of 10 of their highest rated recruits all time are on current roster. Gonzaga has always relied on upperclassmen and coaching. Mark Few always got players with great character that he could mold into a great team. Now these players have the character with elite talent and a splash of cockiness. Not a Zags fan but it would be cool to see them win it all.
