I love the first gen Captur…my missus loves hers..I bought it new and it will last her through her remaining driving career….the thing I like is there’s plenty of headroom for us tall guys and it’s easy to get into for us old guys..they seem to have surpassed Citroen for quirky design features….

That colour scheme is known to Captur owners as "Guinness". The great advantage of unpainted plastics on the lower front bumper, rear bumper, doors and wheelarch trins is that it disguises any parking scrapes. I've found Michelin Crossclimates the best tyres to fit

Bought my wife a Tce120 Signature a couple of years ago and she loves it (purple with silver roof). Loads of kit, 1.2 petrol, and very comfy. Rear legroom is non existent but not an issue for two of us and a dog! Usual French flimsy plastics mean the heated seat switches disappear inside the seat trims and a few squeaks from the dash, but otherwise a good car!

I was nervous before I bought my 2015 Captur (from 2 years old) as I have heard so many horror stories about French cars but I needent have worried; its been bulletproof. You should have mentioned how well equipped these things are, the list of toys is very long indeed, you get a lot for your money. I was shocked about how much you didn't like the mk 2 though.

I used to be a sales rep for Renault back when these ones were new, and it really is a very sound car this. Not really a lot wrong with them and they are as you say quite clever in many ways. Too bad they kind of fell through the market a bit in Norway. I’d argue the best one is the 2015 HH-model with the 1.2 petrol automatic.

Yes no dipstick and the lack of temperature gauge is a mystery to me! The basics of a healthy motor, I buy older cars to put huge milage on, good service history then a good service including gearbox oil change then regular checks and upkeep and I have taken many cars over 200,000 miles then sold them on to people who have had many happy years of service after me! Basic maintenance and checks have become an inconvenience!

add in TPMS and oil drainage that requires suction and no dipsticks ...i think manufacturers need a good ass kicking...oh i forgot the nasties of wet belts and waterpumps that are integral and cause engine seizure if they fail....some real crap out there

I've had two of these as holiday hire cars (and a Clio and Kadjar)and enjoyed all 4, I was impressed with the 0.9 in TCE spec (Kadjar I think had a bigger petrol engine). However when I thought about a Captur as a UK purchase a test drive of a RHD car put me of , I couldn't get comfortable with the pedal arrangement.

@slider2c2
@slider2c2 Жыл бұрын
I driven the engine in a different car for around 5000 miles. It would probably tow a small caravan but it would struggle. Either go for the diesel but it can be more problematic or for another petrol engine. Stay away from the 1.2 TCE especially made before 2016. The best choice would be the 1.3 TCE but it is expensive

Only the French would think it's a sensible ergonomic choice to have an "A/C off" button, instead of an "A/C on" button!
@dornsmichel_1364
@dornsmichel_1364 10 ай бұрын
The idea is: With automatic climate control you aren't really supposed to turn the A/C off, since the car handles this automatically. Mercedes also did this in the early 2000s. Opel/Vauxhall used to have the A/C on/off setting within a submenu in the infotainment screen.

Not sure I'd be brave enough to buy a Renault but that looked like a nice car. I probably wouldn't have chosen Pirellis for the tyre as I think they are overpriced for their quality. I'd be looking for a deal on Bridgestones or Hankooks.

Don't rate Bridgestone tyres at least not the Turanza range they feel far too wallowy and they seriously understeer, don't know anything about Hankook except they're a decent tyre thats almost considered a proper premium tyre. I have the new Pirelli Cinturato P7C2 and they're brilliant very comfortable, quiet and good on fuel all whilst having responsive steering and outstanding grip. I'd only go for Pirelli, Michellin or Continental when tyre shopping. I do drive on Bridgestone UAP 002 tyres all the time at work and they're very good but you won't find them on anything weighing less than 7.5 tonnes lol.

I've seen several times on cars around this age having the original tyres on the back and replacements on the front. On our (at the time) 2yr old car the front tyres were worn down to about 5mm whereas the rears had 7+mm on them. I requested the back wheels be swapped to the front and the dealer was trying to advise me against it. I replied that I was willing to take the risk of having slightly less tread on the back of my car so I can replace all four tyres at the same time when they had worn down evenly

Renault make much better all round cars these days compared to twenty years ago. I owned a 2001 Scenic and it was a dog of a car. Ignition coils and suspension breakages galore. I own a 2015 Captur Signature Nav now and after two years it's been a decent if not spectacular car. I have the flame red/black colour which does look nice when polished up but the interior still has some cheap plastics that thankfully don't exist in the much more refined mark II.

I thought you were repainting the front bumper but you only mentioned buffing the paint at the end. Sitting higher means the car is easier to get into as you said: at your time of life I suppose that’s important!!!!😂

A very impressive video Thankyou, I have a Captur with the same engine, I am very impressed with it as well, It is a 66 plate 2017 Dynamique model, at the time I bought it in April 2021, at the time the last lockdown was lifting it had done 52000 miles, I bought it for £6995.00. Would that be considered a bargain!

Excellent video, have you done a report on the latest Vauxhall Insignia Sport Tourer. I have one in Sri vx nav spec with 2 ltr td engine and auto box. What a great large estate,bigger overall than an EClass Mercedes. German built . Mine has done 106k on 18 reg and is faultless.every service complete gearbox service done and cam belt and water pump replaced. I believe it’s a bit of a dark horse. I would love your opinion on this vehicle and would be quite happy to lend you mine for a test.

12:00 they put garbage CPUs in them and, like, 256MB of RAM.. my 2015 Peugeot 308 is even slower than that.. and the music I play through Bluetooth gets all chopped up.. never thought i'd have to get a FM bluetooth transmitter for a 2015 car..
