This is the video I have been waiting for. I had a 2009 one of these in the same colour. Got it in mid 2021 as my first car with 35000 miles. Sold it last June with 56000 for a new Nissan Micra. Oh boy do I have regrets. This car was an absolute banger. Took it round Germany twice. Admittedly drove alittle fast while in Germany. But having a VW Polo was the pinicle of Sixth form for me and an absolutely amazing car and to whoever bought it after me. I hope she looks after you as well as she looked after me.

The Valeting worked wonders on this car. The seats especially looked brand new, and the colour just popped out in this video. It really did transform the inside of the car. Well done to the guys at the Valeting shop👍 Hope the investment works out great for you, Matt👍

Used to have one of these when I was young with a famous 1.9 tdi engine. Perfectly reliable, kept it in the family and it clocked freaking 750.000 km before getting crashed into and written off.

we had a golf 4 station that did 650.000km and it was still going but since it was a golf 4 it was rusted out but we sold the engine and gearbox for 1250 euro and then the car it self went for another 750 so after buying it brand new and driving the hell out of it it still earned us 2k and we had it for like 13 years

I have had my vw polo 1.2 2010 for 4 years since I passed my driving test. It’s on 98,000 now and still going strong. Regular services and well looked after. And I love it 💪

If you do 6k mile oil and filter changes and keep an eye on the level, you can feel free to ignore all the hate for the 1.2 CGPB and CGPA engines - they're a brilliant engine if you look after them, but sadly too many people follow the manufacturer oil change intervals (i.e. neglect them) and then blame the engine for problems.

Have a Polo 14tdi on a 04 plate, 110k on the clock, had it for 7 years, it meets my needs and service it every year, all filters and oil, any advisors always get sort, found it a good little car for me, been all over the country in it, just an honest bit of transport, had the same issues with the boot struts, made me laugh 😂

We had the same.....it was the best car we ever had. It was 2 years old when the wife had it, then it got passed around the kids as a first car. It drove and handled really good. We got rid at circa 140k and it was still on the road near 180k.....this was the era of reliable vw's.....not so much now. Just use good oil and filters and you wont go too far wrong.....

This model of the Polo is the best of the marque of that model. We have a 1.4 5 door Match that we have owned at least 7 years. Just over 100,000 miles. 1.4 petrol 16 valve. It’s ultra reliable and totally rust free. It lives outside all year round. I would have another one in a heartbeat.

Back in 2006 I bought a 3-door Polo like this one. Great car, kept it for 12 years. Much simpler than today's cars, easy to use and without any serious issues. ...and without a million different sensors.. 😅

Hi Matt, I enjoy watching your videos, it's good to see you keep older cars going for longer and the pit falls thats can be overcome (usually at your expense). It would be good if you could do a follow up video on the cars you have prep'd and if/when they sold and if you did get your asking price....

the work you do is really awesome. out here in South Africa the car is a legend and is super reliable. but VW here is expensive to buy high risk for theft and some services tend to be pricey at times. this car will run for good couple more KM whoever buys your cars are really lucky . My wife bought a new one of these, red - 2003 - and drove it to 2010, 29k on the clock. Car was ok but the VW dealer tried to imply it needed new shock absorbers, just out of warranty and various other items coming in at £600. Took it to my garage. Just needed one spring and one fuse. Servicing done at my local garage from then on. It is still running somewhere. Not spectacular, but reliable - unlike the dealer.

I was given one of these 3 years ago. A 1.4tdi with 160k on the clock. It’s now done over 170k and just keeps going probably my most reliable car. It’s still on the original clutch too!

Another great video from you Matt, and I can safely say that you're time and efforts have been extremely well paid off. Before I started to write this comment, I went onto the car and classic website and typed Volkswagen Polo into the search box, and the results were Polo's from 1984, 1985, 1990 plus, and to top it all off, a 1979 Polo. All for sale in the UK. That means if well looked after, there is another twenty plus years out of the Polo you bought. Someone could buy it as a first car, get married, and decide that instead of getting another car, they might want a small car that they can use for work. A sister of mine has the last of these Polo's, 2009, and she wants to keep it for as long as she can and I have told her that if she looks after it, she'll get another twenty plus years out of it. Finally, a friend of mine had a 2001 Polo, one of the previous ones to these, that was out from around 1996. It was a 1.9 diesel, and she had no bother using it to tow a horse box

I paid £800 for a 2 litre, 19yr old golf about 7 years ago. I drove that car the Scottish Highlands twice, Dover and everywhere in between, had a job doing heavy mileage every month. Very, very reliable car. Scrapped it for £350

I had a 1.2 8v for a couple years and was brilliant, exact same as the one in the video. Still going now on 120k miles. Had a Clio 197 since and a couple others, and has always been the most solid and reliable car ive ever owned

Another great video.... The car looks great but retailing that id be panicking the timing belt goes (if its a belt) at that age, if its never been done... Doing that, would of course, sap any profit away... Good luck with it though Matt as always, brave man!

I had one of these on a 55 plate, a 3-cylinder 1.2 petrol like yours and it was one of the most reliable cars I ever had. I sold it with almost 120,000 on the clock, and it never gave me any real trouble other than consumables. I think the key to these is to get one that's been looked after. Any neglect and they quickly become fragile. Mine was one previous owner, garaged and with a full and regular service history.

My previous car was a black VW Polo, almost the exact same as this one…and, when I did the part exchange for my present car…the dealership gave the price as £800… It was also, my first ever car… The only difference was mine was a 2005 model… Watching this brought back many fond memories…

A eBay universal remote lock/unlock kit for 20 quid takes about 20 mins to fit on that car. It’ll clean up nice and first time drivers can do a lot worse than a 60k polo with air con. You could always send it to Ireland where it’s immediately worth double the UK price.

I had one about 5-6 years ago 1.4 tdi with 90k. Had no history but was a clean car and ran great never any issues apart from fuel cap breaking off and heater resister switch

I drove one of these recently (similarly low spec, except with steel wheels, with the 3 cylinder petrol) and it was a joy to drive, which surprised me as I’m not usually keen on Volkswagens
