Highpointing: Campbell Hill, the highest point in Ohio - Rooftops of America

We visit Campbell Hill, the rooftop of Ohio. Located in Logan County near the town of Bellefontaine, (a quick apology for my mispronunciation of it) the highest point in the state of Ohio has an elevation of 1,549 feet. It is in the Bellefontaine Outlier of the Ohio glacial till plains. We look at the history of the hill through the people that owned it throughout the years, it’s time as an Air Force station, and nowadays as an educational institution. Join us as we explore America and go highpointing!

I got this one last May, when I was on a theme park road trip, as well, and I was on my way from kings island, down by Cincinnati, up to cedar point in Sandusky.

The fact that Ohio's highpoint is not in the far east of the state near Pennsylvania is pretty shocking to me.

You sure would think that considering how hilly it is over there. The Ohio HP is a bit of a geological anomaly The Bellefontaine Outlier definitely lives up to the name.

Given the Air Force Station is closed, any idea why the radar antenna is still rotating? Is is used by the school?

It's a static display with a few other relics from the time up there the school maintains.

I live in Belmont County Ohio which has some of the steepest Hills in the state. The highest point we have in our county is 1397 feet above sea level. We are in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. Campbell Hill looks like it's relatively flat compared to us. But Mother Nature has a way of deceiving us!

Did you visit any of the Caverns near Bellefontaine?

Unfortunately I did not have the opportunity when I filmed this. The next time I get up there I want to spend a bit more time exploring the area.

@@RooftopsofAmerica There are 2 tour caves in the hills of Eastern Logan County: Ohio Caverns and Zane Caverns. The Piatt Castles are also interesting.
