I notice a lot of people fry there mince beef, how ever it does not rehydrate very well, i believe some hikers call it "Gravel". How ever, if you boil your mince beef in a pan with water, not only do you get more of the fat out of the meat. It also hydrates really fast, so much so you can watch it grow in size. What i also found was, about half way through cooking, drain off the water and refill with hot water from the kettle. Once cooked,go through the processes you have mentioned. I have made a quick video, but still need to upload it. The first water change, the amount of fat i got out of the meat was crazy. Oh almost forgot, as the mince beef is still soft on the out side, it dehydrates really well, get this. I did 4.2kg of lean mince meat, did the above then put it in to my dehydrator at 135F for 8 hours and when it cam out it weighed only 724g just goes to show just how much water is in meat. I make an envelope out of parchment paper put that into the bag and then put the dehydrated food into the envelope to prevent punctures . added bonus is I have a bit of paper available as fire starter in camp

You can dehydrate sour cream….also in oz so can’t get it readily.

did you have any trouble bringing food items in from the US? I've always steered away from it in case customs intercept it. (I may be watching to much boarder control on TV tho)
