An ancient path by the sea 🌊
🏖 A few weeks ago we went to the sea, not (only) to swim as you might think, but especially to walk an ancient path of the sixteenth century: the Via dei Cavalleggeri!
🏴☠️ This fascinating route was part of a defensive system created to fight repeated pirate raids and to connect Livorno to the promontory of Piombino, in Tuscany.
🌅 For us, it represented above all an opportunity to make an extremely scenic hike, with panoramic points overlooking the sea. In addition, we did not miss the opportunity to snorkel 🤿 in one of several coves still quite wild!
The most famous is definitely the Buca delle Fate, but also those less known are simply beautiful!
