Please tell me you're not married! You're my perfect match! Ahem. In all seriousness, thanks for the incredible video. I first did the Monsal Trail with my Father in 2004. I did it again in 2014 but accidentally took an unintentional long-cut which added an extra four miles... my legs were aching! Thanks again for the awesome content and keep up the videos. :D

Thank you Robin! The video this coming Sunday is a walk around New Mills in The Peak District which I filmed just before lockdown. We are hoping to go to the Lake District for a couple of days as soon as we can which I will film, just have to wait to hear when we are allowed. We were planned to go beginning of November but obviously had to cancel. Hope you are keeping safe and well 😊

How wonderful to see you on the Monsal Trail, such a great choice for the wetter weather months but really anytime right? We walked it last January from Bakewell and turned around at Cressbrook Mill and we definitely have to go back to finish the rest because it just looks amazing! The fall colors were breathtaking and your video as always just a joy to watch with so much great information as well. We also walked up that hill at the Monsal Viaduct to get a better view (and have a cup of tea at the pub on the top) but then found the view from the bottom up where the river was flowing even more enchanting. Thank you so much, hopefully we'll get to do "part 2" after Christmas :)

It's really interesting to see a former industrial landscape return to its green state (or maybe transition to a new green state). Pretty wild to see how nature heals itself and man's handiwork gains a sort of new dignity when draped with moss and waterfalls.

epic video as always, i was on the monsal trail the day you uploaded this video, couple of things i would like to add, there is 3 places you can get refreshments on the trail, hassop station, millersdale station, blackwell mill, millersdale station is definitley open, not sure about the other 2, the other thing is, where you turned round to come back at the viaduct if you had carried on a bit further you would have come to the entrance to the haddon tunnel ( nearly a mile long ) unfortunately this is blocked off, but if you go to the rowsley end you can get into the tunnel, ( the steel door is stiff but not locked ) now there is plans to reopen the tunnel to extend the monsal trail, apparently the owners off haddon hall are holding things up, typical.

Hello again Mary, just wanted to say thanks for yet another fantastic video on KZfaq. I myself have walked the route many of times, and never get bored with it. With me being a Railway Enthusiast, I enjoy it more. On another note, it would be lovely to see the tracks put back down again and turn it back into a mainline railway again between Derbyshire and Manchester. There have been plan's for a local heritage railway society to go from Matlock to Bakewell, but sadly nothing has ever happened yet.😢 Anyway on yet another note, have you ever done the Cromford and High Peak Railway walk yet? That's another railway walk I've done myself in the past too. Anyway once again my lovely, thanks for a lovely video, you've got such a lovely voice, and very informative about the area's you visit. All the best from. Devon Boy (Mike) 🙂

Mary I loved the walk along !! And of course there couldn't possibly be a better narrator in all of UK !!!! Personally you make me feel like you're really sharing something with me !!! But that's just u being u ☺️ .. A few days ago I was looking at some pics of Crabtree meadows on the J.M.T and, well, I couldn't help but think of you being in lock down AGAIN and how wonderful it was after so many high passes and the up n down of some of the JMT. And i thought ofwhat you said about having recently made so many wonderful memories of trails in your area. Not to mention that crazy trip you and Derek took together that was about a week long. But a memory nonetheless. it lifted my heart to think you have those things to look back on not to mention the incredible photographs n videos 😀👍🏽👍🏽. I think part of the problem with this pandemic is that people start to get a little bit too relaxed and let their guard down and then we find ourselves right back to square one. I'm sad to have to say that the US is showing a very bad example of what to do. But this is what memories are for ya, these moments of reflection !! Well my friend, peace and keep on rocking the free world ☺️

Good question! I was wondering the same and hadn't managed to find an official answer. My best guess would be that as they are so old there is likely to be dirt or grime that is perhaps toxic?

@@MarysOutdoorAdventures Hello Mary and thank you so much for your reply. You should try to go to the Trinnacle at Dove Stones, Saddleworth. Its beautiful but if you go up by the water fall by careful, it can be difficult in places and it's a hard climb but you will love it when you get to the top. You should try get there early about 8.00am or before then you can park with no difficulty, it's £ 4.00 all day. Once again Many Thanks, Don.

In Alaska, we drove through an active railroad tunnel under the mountain. It is the Whittier tunnel (www.dot.state.ak.us/creg/whittiertunnel/index.shtml) They control when cars can go through because the Alaska Railroad still uses it. On the sides are small openings into rooms. Those rooms are to escape into in case the tunnel collapses or an earthquake occurs. I noticed your tunnels had those small openings as well. Another exceptional video from you. John from MI (AT 2021)

Those recesses in the tunnels are refuges; they were built for track engineers to move out of the way should a train pass as there is not much clearance between the tunnel wall and the train.
@littlethislittlethat456
@littlethislittlethat456 3 жыл бұрын
@@adamfox3733 Sounds logical. I guess I was partly correct. But the tunnel in Alaska definitely had emergency egress rooms and they had markings to show which one you were in. John
