The River Esk is a beautiful river in North Yorkshire that starts as a series of becks and gutters which have no individual name but together are known as the Esklets. The Esk flows through the Eskdale valley and out into the mighty North Sea in the fishing town of Whitby. Join us as we hike and wild camp this 30 mile adventure following the Esk from its humble beginnings on the moors, to the sea in Whitby.

@ 28.54 minutes I paused to remember my friends that at this point of the river esk were swept 400 yards down the river in a Land Rover and were lost to the water on the 28th of December 2023, Scott, Patrick and les RIP They died doing what they loved in the great outdoors and will always be remembered

Quite poinniot for me this video. I was married in Whitby, I had photos taken at the Whale jawbone, mother in law was born in Whitby, her mum was born in Whitby and her father was captain of a ship that sailed from Whitby, my mother in law returned to Whitby on her husband's death many years later, she lives up on Manor Close. On the 199 steps is step 99 that is the Butterwick step. I had many visits/holidays to Whitby with my 2 eldest sons over the past 12 years. My wife passed away 2 weeks ago from Leukaemia. We have fond memories of Whitby. I had always hoped to bump into you Haze in Whitby. Great to see you trace the origin of the Esk 👍 and what better way to do it with Joey Von discobiscuit. Thank you.

One of my earliest memories is the Lealholm stepping stones and watching the local teams play 'quoits', also with my grandparents. It was over 50 years ago and it hasn't changed.

Yes, mate, love the esk after having a caravan in ruswarp since I was a nipper. I've washed, swam, and fished that river. I always wanted to adventure further upstream. glad it's your von diddle laying claim to finding the source of the esk 💚 xx

What an excellent walk... I spent a lot of time in and around Eskdale when I lived up Durham way (too many years ago to be comfortable with now! 😆) but never even considered walking the whole length of the river. Looks amazing...
