A bird's-eye view concentrating on the Dene Farm portion of Hildene's 412 acres, captured during that time of year Vermonter's refer to as "stick season." The snow has melted, the leaves have yet to appear, but the grass is starting to green, and the promise of spring is evident if you look and listen closely. The valley on which Dene Farm sits boasts the famed Battenkill, wetlands, 600 ft. floating boardwalk, Hildene's Bobolink bird sanctuary, pollinator meadows and hives, animal barn, greenhouse, Burr & Burton Academy's teaching classroom, c.1832 Hollow School schoolhouse, original farmhouses, barns and maintenance shed. Dene Farm can be experienced from the ground, by using Hildene's trail system which delivers guests to the valley via the Maple Trail which snakes its way down the hill from a crossroads nearest our Goat Dairy. Stick season has a unique appeal all its own - especially when viewed from above!
