How to remove your Jaguar XF tail light.
I hope this info helps at least one other person as I had to first read the workshop manual on how to do it.

About 30secs in and I started relaxing. I could just tell this guy is going to be comprehensive precise and quick about it. Yeah, that's how you do it . There are other videos here dismantling the whole boot!

Hilton, love your videos and I think I have seen most of them by now. I have as of earlier this year a 2009 XF and over these last few months have started tweaking a few things and am glad of your opinions as I ruled out some stuff and ruled in some stuff after seeing a few of your videos on accessories. I really enjoy your attention to detail - until now I would have believed it could only be me that would even think of cleaning the empty tail-light bay. ( and Of course you should ! Perfect opportunity. ) Your car might be different , but with the boot open, my bootlight turns itself off after a while ( 15 minutes ?) . I went to all the trouble of rigging up a wiring harness with an on/off switch to isolate the boot light for when I leave the boot open ( eg , trickle charge the battery when car not used for a while ) before I worked this out.

Thanks Greg, I love to hear from the community out there. It's heartwarming to know my videos help people. My trunk light does turn off after 15 minutes, but I don't drive my car for long enough to let the battery get a good charge each day, usually just short trips to the shops or to fill up. Everything is 5 minutes away where I live :D. So to avoid the battery warning on the display, I disconnect the light. I've got a few more subtle things planned for my XF and just waiting for the items to arrive. I'll be doing some videos on those in the near future. And congrats on your own purchase earlier this year, I'm sure you love your XF as much as I love mine. They are wonderful cars to own and a pleasure to drive.

Great video as always but I have a tip for everybody - you don't have to remove the 3rd nut at all, the one furthest forward that is difficult to get to. I found this out by accident, but it's not actually connected directly to the rear light cluster. It's only connected to a small clip that clips onto the cluster. You don't even need to loosen it! So, if you remove just the two nuts at the rear of the light and just pull the light fitting forward, it will slide out! The third bolt remains in place, holding the clip in place. The entire fitting literally just slides out after you have removed the first two bolts. Replacing it is the same in reverse, the light fitting just slots back into the clip. Hope this helps somebody as the third one is quite difficult to get to - now you don't need to.

Do you know if it's the same for an XKR (X150) - I have some failed LEDs and I'm about to replace the unit with a new one.

@@reality-cheque It will almost certainly be similar I would think. You should be able to tell by looking at it from inside the boot, the screw threads are quite long and very obvious.

Hello, thanks for the video. I can't seem to remove the clips or pins that are on the carpet, the ones that use a screwdriver are easy. How do you remove the other pins?

generally any trim tool can remove them by prying them off - it helps to have some spare as they tend to bend when you remove them. A metal trim pry tool works best.

on my 2014 xf sportsbrake the upper red section of the tailgate lid is not working at all .will this be a fuse or is a new light unit needed

Thanks buddy. Yeah, I bought a used one from a breakers yard. Do you have the exact same model as mine or is yours a facelift version? The facelift has all LED tail lights. Mine had normal bulbs for the turn signal and reverse light so all you need to do is replace the bulb in that case. The bulb is a very specific bulb and the part number is C2Z7940. You can find many places that sell this bulb new. But check the price with the dealer as well as sometimes they are cheaper than the alternative suppliers.

@besnikmaloku oh boy, in that case you need to replace the entire lamp. Try and get one from a breakers yard. There must be accident damaged XFs out there being sold for spares.

Hi Hilton hope your well I have a question I have an error code on my heated seats B1158 and 59 saying sensor is there anyway to reset them ? Any advice most welcome

@@chrisjeffries8167 it's possible it's a Relay. However, I have no idea where it's at. Have you checked the fuses for the seats?

You can't just any bulbs for these. You will have to source them from your Jaguar dealer. To replace them, open the trunk, remove the carpet cover by undoing all the screws that hold it in and then you will get access to the bulbs. If you watch my video on replacing the loom for the trunk to fix my rear camera blue screening you will see how to remove that cover.

Could someone help me out please? If I want to replace my tail light, does it matter if i buy a right hand drive car's driver's side light for my left hand drive car's passanger side?

@matedervalics5051 It doesn't matter, all the LHD and RHD tail lights are the same and the plugs are the same. As long as you buy the tail light that is for your car, eg. Non facelift vs face lift. Non facelift is 2007 to 2012. Face lift is late 2012 to 2015

I'm afraid not. I don't know Qatar, but I would recommend Googling for salvage yards in your area or Google Jaguar XF breaking up for spares in Qatar ;)

Do you know up to what year have the same size tail light mines out and I’m wondering if 07-15 are the same sizes?

The tail lights of the 2011-2015 face lift will fit your 2007-2011 model X250 XF. The mountings are identical and the shape is identical. The only thing you might have an issue with is the wiring of the plugs - you might have to rewire the plug on the tail light or the one on your car to match which is for reverse, indicator, brake and park lights

Hey Keith, you mean your 3rd brake light (high mounted brake light) is not working. This could be anything from an electrical connection to a fuse. I'm not familiar with the sport brakes, but check your car's manual where the fuse layouts are described to see if there is actually a separate fuse for this light - if there is, check the fuse. If it doesn't have a separate fuse, then something is probably wrong with the wiring. What happens is that with opening and closing the trunk, the wires keep bending back and forth and can either pull loose or break completely apart. You could then need to dis-assemble the inner covers of the trunk to get access to all the wiring to see where the break is. My guess is, its where it comes into the trunk from the body of the car then.

Abdul rahuman I assume you mean how does the acc work? Mine isn't fitted with it but you have another dial next to the cruise control dial which allows you to set the distance between your XF and the car in front of you.
