season 4 is the best season in haikyuu IMO. seeing hinata start to become comfortable with blocking and receiving was so inspiring.

I always love characters like Hinata and Asta from Black Clover.. They're so passionate, determined and I envy them (as inspiration) 🥺

Asta is a bootleg Sawamura. Hinata is Sawamura but without the depth and charm

Furudate has a knack for taking “simplistic” and “overused” character tropes and peeling back the layers to reveal the beauty and complexity that justifies their continued existence. Hinata is an excellent example of this, as are Tanaka, Bokuto, and Ushijima. At his core, Hinata is both inspiring and often terrifying, and he has his share of flaws- real ones, not just limitations like his height. That makes him very truthful as a character- after all, isn’t that what archetypes are for? Not to be “realistic,” but to explore, in symbol and in story, what it means to be human?

Hinata is a character that you are forced to like even if the character trait is overdone

As the series goes on he just gets better and better!

Oh for sure. I think however his appeal is the fact hes an over done trope. Idk maybe I jist like trash boys. Lol

While they definitly use the "underdog" card a lot in the series. but in his regard, you can see how the brilliant players, those truely gifted by technique fear him.. he is an absolute monster in terms of raw stamina, speed and instinct. The show has a very unique thing to do in regards to how emotional characters are, anger, sadness, hopeless, visualising their feelings like branches or wines holding their feet because they feel stuck in place. Very simple, but it shows it so insanely well. it's brilliant.

I just finished season 2 on Netflix. Fantastic analysis and recommendation from you. Thank you very much. Hinata is a great character and I really enoy the way he evolved from season 1 and 2. The scene you highlighted really does speak to me as well. Im not very good at giving my all to everything that I do. And I also wonder about what I could do. Take care and be kind to yourself

One of the main reasons I love Shoyo , is despite the whole "underdog" trope being so overplayed, I've never seen it done in such an emotional, and developmental way. I feel as if the fandom doesn't credit him for what he accomplishes most of time and his hunger to improve. I feel like Hinata's drive and persistence and dangerous hunger to stay on the court is the main reason why he is deserving of all his accomplishments and his title of being in the Monster Generation, because Shoyo is a Monster, on and off the court. i could write paragraphs among paragraphs about this boys development and why its one of my favorites in anime history but I'll save that for my googe docs lmao.
