Tamestit has one of the most nuanced "inside of every note" sound ever. Such a range of tone and volume. And he is SO totally committed to the music, every piece, Bach, Hindemith, Ligeti, everything. Phenomenal violist, phenomenal musician. I wish I were 60 yrs younger (and had talent and discipline!) so I could study with him.

Beautiful performance of this neoclassical masterpiece under the flawless direction by this awesome conductor. The sweet tone of viola solo sounds truly impressive.

Magnifica interpretação, o compositor alemão Paul Hindemith foi para um estúdio da BBC na manhã seguinte de 20 de janeiro de 1936 à morte do rei Jorge V da Inglaterra e, em seis horas, escreveu Trauermusik ("Música de Luto"), executada naquela noite em transmissão ao vivo pela rádio - com Adrian Boult à frente da Orquestra Sinfônica da BBC e Hindemith como solista. O título significa "Música de Luto" ou "Música Funeral" em inglês, mas a obra é sempre conhecida pelo título em alemão

I am studying composition and I have currently as an assignment to write a piece for viola and piano. I just stumbled on Hindemith and I think I will take this piece as a sort of paragon for my assignment. I have some other pieces by Hindemith in my mind too. Anyway, this is an excellent and touching performance. Thanks for uploading!

Yes, check out the F Major, but before you write for viola *with* piano, check out Hindemith's sonata for viola alone, Opus 11 #4. And talk to a ton of violists who will play for you!

It sounds a bit like a penciled in rough outline to be developed later as a first movement. The soloist is excellent with what he had to work with.

I usually prefer live performances. However, in this case, I prefer the recording with Walther/Bloomstedt and the San Francisco Symphony. It makes more musical sense, especially in the middle section. In the video, this section suddenly feels like a different work - not so in the recording.

Torterra kart Allora già come appunto, va meglio.. perché dire a qualcuno che non sa apprezzare la buona musica, non ha molto senso....cos'è la buona musica ? potrei parlarle di professionisti che sono in grandi teatri che si annoiano davanti a certe opere che la maggior parte di noi, magari, ama.... E poi cosa c'entra gentile Torterra Kart, offendere ?!..... guardi che non è il suo video, par altro di eccellente qualità sonora e con interpreti di tutto rispetto (ma non conosco il violinista) a lasciarmi indifferente, ma questo tipo di musica... anzi no, questo pezzo ! L'ho riascolto proprio per Lei :)................ ma... sarà la sua atmosfera ? si sente un aria di tragedia anche se a volte ha delle solarità...ma c'è qualcosa di angosciante....o piuttosto di triste......ma anche con dei passaggi di grande dolcezza.....d'altra parte si chiama Trauermusik ! anzi, sa tutto sommato, stasera, non mi lascia indifferente per niente !! è anche piuttosto complesso e molto ricco sul piano armonico... Bene, come la mettiamo ?! :) la mettiamo che stasera è così e che la ringrazio per avermi stimolata a riascoltare questo singolare pezzo :) saluti

+Mimi Prades Mi dispiace per come o reagito prima. Non ero di buon umore e quel commento mi aveva offeso un po. A volta la musica bisogna ascoltarla un paio di volte prima di apprezzare la sua particolarità. Come lei a ben detto un può trovare questo pezzo melancolico e può non piacerle, però se guarda il titolo capirà. Un ultima cosa: il solista è un violista non violinista, la consiglio di sentire un po di pezzi per viola visto che il suono di questo istrumento e più caldo e profondo del violino Mi dispiace ancora per prima e sono contento che ci siamo capiti :)

La mitad de notas sin vibrato o con vibrato como si fuera la interpretación vegetariana (pseudoorquestas de interpretaciones "autenticas" de la musica antigua - interpretaciones vegetarianas, sin musica, solo notas). Lastima!
