He should have said brand new online any time you want. If you look around long enough on the secondary market you can get almost anything you want

I just recently ordered a Gen 6 Bowie. I got the wrong one, sending it back for the correct one. Then I see these come in stock and got me second guessing. But after awhile I decided I'm good with the Bowie. It'll be my first Hinderer too. 👍

I have a no choil spanto that I use to work around the house and the spanto is actually a good blade shape for a work knife

They charged full boat for O-1 so there is no argument over Hinderer prices on m390, s45vn etc.

I believe I read somewhere the the Spanto and Slicer are both .025 behind the edge for a majority of the blade. Only at the tip do they differ. Spanto increases to .030 and slicer decreases to .020. Not sure if this is true and can’t cite my source because I don’t remember it.

Thanks for the video, have you tried RC Bladeworks micarta scales? I just ordered several for some of my Hinderer’s, and they are awesome. Also Urban EDC Supply has a few of the S45’s in stock.

@@neillevy4087 you need a spanner bit for the one side, and a flat head screw driver or penny for the other. Hold the one side still with the spanner bit and unscrew the other side with penny or driver. It goes all the way through, so it’s a long pivot screw.

I think the driver bit is called a spanner bit cost about $1 on amazon as opposed to hinderer tool.....

Great video Brian. I sat for about 20 secs after you said "jade is only good for dieing" Trying to figure out the relationship between jade and death...then it dropped. Dying.. not dieing 🙈😂 FFS lol Just picked up a Hinderer Tad Dauntless Compact , my first non slipjoint Hinderer.. I blame you and thank you Brian.. I didn't even like hinderers when I started watching you oh so long ago 🤣 but funny how tastes change.

I won a DLT exclusive XM18 3.5” spanto no choil with M390 steel on a Facebook group waffle for $50. Best $50 I ever spent. Probably the only way I’d own a Hinderer

How do you feel about sheepsfoot blade on the xm24? I have an 18 3.5 no choill slicer and has more of a piercing tip than sheepsfoot blade, but I would love to hear your opinion. Do you think Hinderer will ever make an xm24 non choil non flipper slicer?

Inquiring minds want to know: If seems like "Spanto" must have a meaning. Combination of Tanto and something else? I've only heard it used for Hinderers, so maybe their own design?

The Spanto is the worst blade style at pure cutting and slicing, but it's very robust for harder work.

All steels are relatively cheap. Most expensive is cpm20v coming in at $75 for a 4 inch billet. And that's if your buying 1 billet at a time.

Two of the "holy trinity" are impossible to get,the 21 is gone & the xm-18 is always out of stock. Honestly i'm loosing interest in knives all together,since you can't get any.

From my perspective, and using Larrin's steel graphing, 20cv is superior to S45vn. 20cv has more amounts of the same ingredients.

S45VN is tougher and I believe that makes it easier to sharpen. Steels aren’t inherently better than another, just different.

@@spydercoslacker7466 We need more people pointing this out! Better and best are critical terminology for you to decide for yourself, but they cannot be applied generally to almost anything, it's a personal opinion not an objective fact!
