You've come quite a long way since this my man!!! I press my index finger on the lock bar down into the mat with the blade open to relieve pressure after I take the pivot out. Then I unscrew the scale screws and it's so quick and efficient to change scales. I take the blade off only for hardware changes now. It's a great trick.

It might have been easier to reassemble with the blade fully deployed and the lock bar engaged

Some people do it that way, and you're right, it's probably easier. I don't like the face of the lockbar to grind across the unused part of the tang during any part of assembly/disassembly. I doubt this creates unnecessary wear, but I try to avoid it if I can.

No. You need a skinny specific scale, which they do make 👍

man, those washers ruin this knife for me, why can't they use PB washers instead..??

They do now. Bearings too. This is an old video.. Look up "XM 18 Tri-way pivot", or you can watch one of my many videos on them 👍
