We're back with some more Deftones! I have wanted to hear more from these guys for a long time! Be quiet and drive was such a banger that I just had to check out more! Us older metalheads weren't in love with the nu-metal movement (mostly due to Limp Bizkit) but we all recognized that Deftones was something special.

I don't know... I really never cared for Korn that much. That's not to say they aren't talented - they most definitely are. But after hearing maybe two of their songs, all the rest started sounding almost exactly the same. Kinda the same way that Breaking Benjamin all sounds pretty much the same. I don't know... Easy to like, but also really easy to tire of. Best way I can explain it.

Agreed here, he’s in what appears to be a nu metal esk vibe so Deftones more heavy riffing songs is probably his lane at the moment till he can hear more of what Deftones has to offer. Nothing short of blowing his mind for sure though as he goes deeper into their songs.

I listen to all music on house speakers that are older than me. Early 70's Sansui SP 2500's. You'd be surprised at how hard music like the Deftones bangs on them!! It's something I think everyone should experience in their life 😉

II started as a 20 yr old something listening to Deftones and now Im a 50 yr old still listening to them. One of the greats! Many others mentioned some more bangin songs but haven't heard anyone mention Rocket Skates.

It's called being purposely off pitch by just a little bit makes an almost ethereal sound. That's what I've gathered at lesast in my 15 years of listening to Chino Moreno's vocals but Steph's guitar and Chi Cheng's bass and Abe's drumming mesh so beautifully especially when Chino plays guitar too on a few songs the chemistry is unreal

Hey Homie. Glad you loved this one. Deftones is best, but Chino has some cool side projects. Team Sleep and Crosses are good, but my favorite is a lesser know one called Palms. I think you might like Future Warrior by Palms or Brief Exchange by Chino Moreno. \m/

There are so many good Deftones tracks you need to listen to. Engine no.9 is an awesome instrumental, back to school, hexagram, needles and pins, minerva, hole in the earth, passenger, change (in the house of flies) , diamond eyes. The list could go on. What I like about your reviews is how in depth you go with the songs. Hi…Grandma from California again. I don’t know if I mentioned it before, but both of my sons are musicians in their hearts and in their souls from the ages of 8. Now 44 & 40 years old with non musical careers. The oldest is a 23 year Firefighter/ Paramedic Battalion Chief in charge in water rescue on the Atlantic, but still plays piano and guitar everyday, teaching his 7 year old twin girls to play. My youngest is a Director of Marketing for an online Tech company. He hasn’t stopped writing music and lyrics since he was 8. He has formed 3 bands and released over a dozen albums over years. He just dropped an EP on Spotify 2 weeks ago. The reason I’m mentioning it is that his first band hung out with Deftones behind stage and opened for Papa Roach several times here in CA. That was almost 20 years ago. Yes, those bands have both been around much longer than that.

Deftones is the perfect example of a band whose progression is steady from album to album. They always maintain their sound, but each album in the discography you can hear them growing musically. Every album after the next is better than the last.

I’m 36 and was lucky enough to find them in my teenage years. They’ve been with me ever since and their music has never let me down, only blown me away.

Dude I'm so glad you discovered this band and you're digging them. This was the first song I heard from them back in 2000 in a skatepark, as soon as I heard the intro riff then the even chunkier riff kick in I was immediately hooked, and still to this day its one of the most badass riffs ever. As for Chino's vocals its amazing how he can sing kind of 'off' but its still 'on' if that makes sense, its hard to describe but there's nobody else like him!

More Deftones is definitely what you need, but Hey Man Nice Shot by Filter has a lot of the same energy as this one.
