I am amazed with this rehab program. It is very thorough and easy to understand without all the technical lingo, but visual demonstration of the exercises. It should have had more views, but perhaps people do not have labrum problems as much. However, this video is actually applicable even if you do not have hip labrum at all! I do not, but I am benefiting of all these exercises. Congratulations for such a complete video. Thank you! Blessings to all.

End of July having labrum, CAM repair, and micro fracture procedure. Dr. and his PT are telling me I could be on crutches 8 to 10 weeks. What am I going to do being so limited? Any suggestions are greatly welcomed! Congratulations on your successful surgery and rehab.

I wish I had found this video sooner. I got hip labral repair and cam femoroplasty 4.5 weeks ago. I still can't even walk normally. Amazing how you were doing here at just 1 week post op for a full labral reconstruction. Amazing stuff. Glad your rehab went well and thanks for the material. I am currently searching for a new PT. Any suggestions on what to quiz them for in order to find the right one?

I had the same surgery you had. The bone work makes the recovery longer and more painful, than just a labrum repair.

@mikeall7012 I see. Good point. I wonder how the bone shaving plays into it with longer post op pain. I will get random rom sharp pains unlike anything I've ever experienced before. Wonder what part of that is labrum vs femoral neck. I had poor PT experience first few weeks and wasn't properly prepped to transition smoothly off crutches. I am constantly having to advocate for myself to my care team. I am 11 weeks post op now and having a rough patch. Some upper inner groin pain with a pinching feeling. I've never had a pinching feeling in my groin in my life. Hopefully just a muscle. Worried about my labrum/capsule/joint or a sports hernia. My care team is making light of it in my opinion. Lots of assumptions. Just say they think it's a muscle. I've never had a muscle give these type of symptoms. This is the toughest thing I have ever experienced. It's a super intense surgery to rehab. But I am super grateful to my care team and medical professionals. However I will say there does seem to be a disconnect. And I have gotten really used to advocating my for needs and double checking things. Even with app based patient data so much is siloed out.

Hello, im almost 7 weeks out from labrum and cam repair. Almost two weeks without crutches and since then, limping due to pain. Also after a PT session or exercises at home, i feel sore and pain like stabs. Honestly dont know what to think, today i've mentionned that to my doctor and refered me to my surgeon to check if its normal.. which doesnt sounds good. Any thoughts ? dont wanna loose my motivation but i didnt expect having pain at this stage. Thanks for your content !

@@antonios247hey, what sort of pain did you have prior to your surgery? Have you followed a rehab program? I am due surgery in 3 weeks but I’ve seen lots of comments and videos that are suggesting not to! Thanks

Any surgeon will tell you to avoid hip flexion for the first 6 weeks after surgery to protect your laberal repair so why is your PT forcing your operated leg beyond 90 degrees of hip flexion with the opposite straight leg toe touch exercise? This is really not a good idea considering you are just 2 weeks out. Its better to save these exercises until after 6 weeks. Hips dont need a vast amount of PT to recover, you just need to stop that tissue from adhering to the joint. I love your video and appreciate everything but this is PT overkill for such early recovery stage imo.

Kristian, thanks for the comment. I’m unsure if you’ve rehabilitated many hips following labral procedures but I have. It may take a bit more PT than you might realize. Regarding hip flexion, any time you lift a straight leg in a seated position you’re going to have posterior tilting of the pelvis. I’d doubt my hip went to even 85 degrees. Regardless, surgical protocols aren’t recipes or formulas to be followed word for word they’re general guidelines that should be considered patient by patient. Nothing here was forced to any extreme or was dangerous in any way.

@@OverheadAthletics Thanks for the information and your reply. Yes actually i have rehabilitated hips in the past including the two i own due to FAI impingement/labral tears. Yes I'm aware of posterior tilt which shortens the hip flexors and how it can negatively affect the lower spine on repeat movement especially in a seated position when the spine is compressed but that's another story. With regards to the hip flexion based on the video for me personally it was pushing over the boundary for the first 2 weeks of recovery following surgery. This was based on observation of the level of hip flexion seen in the video, the exact degree is not clear but i did observe that the right operated side getting higher and higher into flexion after each attempt which normally would be fantastic! Just not in the first 2 weeks of surgery to protect healing soft tissue. Yes surgeons guidelines are definitely not everything but very early stage guidelines are very valuable given the respect that the surgeon knows every small detail of the work carried out. If a surgeon thinks something would run a risk of failure to his work he would want to protect that for the patient and his reputation so it is stated for a valid reason. Either way i thought the video was great i was just making my own observation based on my knowledge and experience. I don't expect you to agree and of course every patient situation is different, i am only talking from a general stand point.
