How was it? I have an interview next week, but I'm so nervous. Apparently, 3 ppl will be present. I don't think I'm as prepared as I should be...

I agree children can see if a person is good, kind, and genuine. As a parent and educator it's good to be attentive as well as open to different people within the field. We all try to bring that special sparkle to our children and staff. A smile can go a long way especially when our students are having a hard day. It helped me when I was around teachers who were positive, supported, welcoming, and who genuinely cared for the staff and the students.

Hi Kanwal, I had a paper resume with me to refer to it. You could read your notes before the interview. No one is perfect, and just remember it's normal to forget things to say. For me just coming to the interview excited, and smiling really helped with calming my nerves 😊 Thank you for your kind comment, and I'm glad it helped 😊

Hi Raymond, I wish I could help, but I'm not sure how to access the written test. I didn't take one for the IA position at my district. I would recommend contacting the district you are applying for, and ask any questions. Best of luck!

Hey Raymond, I don't know if this will be too late but I'm also currently applying and had to take an instructional assistant test. What I did was I contacted someone from the district I'm applying too. On the job listing I was looking at it had a number and email of someone to contact in case we had questions. I'd suggest looking to see if you can find anything like that or like Aisha said, try contacting the district.

@@gemita. Hey Gema, I just applied for this position and I have to take the written test I really want this but my spelling is bad and writing in general gives me anxiety. Do you have any tips or advise?

@@sindivazquez2751 Hey Sindi, I can relate. My spelling has never really been the best. When I took the test I noticed that the majority of not all of it was multiple choice when it came to spelling, writing, math, etc. I would suggest going online and looking for a study guide. Before I took my test I looked it up online and it gave me a detailed guide of what would be on the test with examples and answers. That's what helped me feel more prepared and less nervous. Even if you just glance over it, it'll make a big difference because you'll have an idea of what to expect.

I have taken this type of test. You can just know it's basic skills, like for example if it's elementary school level, those will be the kind of questions. If it's middle and high school questions they will be tailored to the ages you'll work with. Also situations and how you'd handle them.

Hi Crystal, I'm not really sure, that's a good question. For my school we have counselors who assist in behavioral support. As an aide there are times I find myself helping students on their mental health, psychological and social development skills, but on a small scale. My job mostly consist of yard duty, cafeteria duty, and helping in the classrooms. If you're curious about becoming a behavioral support specialist maybe pick a school nearby, and call to see if they have any information for a bss. Hope that helps! :)
