I was at my parents house during the hurricane, I was quite sure nothing would happen since my parents house NEVER floods. I guess the saying never say never is quite accurate to say. And when they say historic flooding boy they ain't exaggerating, it's devestating seeing my parents SEEING their house flooded , but thankfully i can say we are all alive. #PRAYERSFORMYFELLOWHOUSTONIANS

I live in north Houston and thank god our house didn't get flooded but down the street we the whole road is flooded and we can't really leave and a bunch of my friends who live near the creek got badly flooded Only good thing is school got canceled

As a Houstonian, I defend the mayors decision not to evacuate the city. Where the heck would everybody have gone?! We're the 4th largest city in the country with over 4 million people in the Houston area! The best place for 4 million people is here in our city even if it is under water it's better then being under water in your car

I was in Corpus Christi when it initially was supposed to make a direct hit on us. The mayor said shelter in place and Harvey was already a cat 3. Unbelievable. I wen't thru Katrina there is no way I was gonna stay. People need to stop listening to these politicians on when they should evacuate. They will be safe, the question is will you?

My Great Aunt and my cousins live in Houston and my Grandma said that we lost communication with them for 4 hours. It was really scary. When we finally got back to them, they were stranded on their roof. They said that more then half their farm animals drowned (cows, pigs, chickens, horses) and that the fire department had to come and get them.

I feel very lucky. I live in Houston but the streets are only kind of flooded but other than that I'm safe apart from the constant tornado warnings but at least no one I know has lost their life yet

I've NEVER understood by people try to drive thru a flooded street!!! I would have left town days before if I lived in the area. I'd rather sleep in my car than chance a flood.

I'll keep Houston in my prayers. I grew up in Florida so I know what a bad hurricane is like and when I was about 7-10 (so 2006-2009) I remember one where the water was up to our thighs and cars were floating away and we were stuck at a beach club throughout the night. Its horrible and traumatizing and for people who don't have much to begin with to lose their homes and possession is heart breaking. May they recover quickly

A lot of my friends lost all their stuff, many shelters are full with hundreds of people, non-stop raining, many streets flooded, people waiting hours without food, wet while waiting to be rescued. American Red Cross is doing what they can at shelters and many volenteers are trying to help. High Schools, Churches, and other places are being used as shelters, airports closed, those who are not yet flooded wait in lines for hours for HEB to open. A huge disaster and we are doing what we can to try to fix it. Hopefully it is all worked out and we stay safe.

Houston is my home, I've been here all my life. It breaks my heart to see my people, my community struggle the way it is. Guys, I know alot of people who lost alot if there's anything you can spare consider sending it to Houston, thanks all In advance!

I live Northwest of Houston and it will not stop raining. Thankfully no major flooding in my area, however my room ceiling was leaking water. Not to mention the tornado watches that happened a couple of days ago were all in my area. For those still in that area stay safe!

I'm from Beaumont, and while Southeast Texas is taking a hard hit, with houses flooding and major highways blocked due to water in most of the surrounding cities, we have not had anything quite like what is happening in Houston. It has been so hard to feel so helpless while seeing these videos from friends, family members, and news stations all over my social media. It breaks my heart to see what the people of Houston and Rockport are enduring while knowing it is only going to get worse in the days to come as Harvey swings into the Gulf only to make landfall back over Houston/Beaumont. My city about 15 mikes from Beaumont has all four direction leading out of the city blocked off due to flooding, and there is not much any of us can do but keep ourselves afloat. My heart is so heavy. I sincerely hope there is a light to lead us out of this dark storm. Keep Houston in your thoughts.
