as someone whose first language is definitely not english, i watched this video approximately 7 years ago for the first time and barely understood anything due to the overall adhd kinda vibe. rewatching the video now got me thinking about how dramatically my english has improved over the years as i am not only able to get what bill was saying but even catch each word individually. wow. kinda proud of myself.

I love how besides how much quickness, memes and goofiness over the explanation in this video, the nuclear explosion ( 8:25) felt so much sorrow and had more psychological weight than the rest of the video. Absolutely 10/10

@@CounterCurseMantraJust because someone is speaking japanese, you would ask them their opinion on the atrocities committed by imperial Japan? Have some self-awareness. You're speaking ENGLISH. Do you have any idea how much suffering, exploitation, oppression and outright genocide English speakers have caused? America, Britain, Australia, Canada, all of these countries have their own long, long list of crimes against humanity. The British and American empires especially, their sheer power means they are likely the biggest non-natural causes of suffering in human history. *All* governments minimize and erase the uncomfortable parts of their own history that's taught in schools.

This video is going viral on Japanese Twitter now. A lot of Japanese understood it was really good to study Japanese history. Twitterでプチバズりしてたので見にきました。 細かいところが違うという指摘のコメントもありましたが、私自身が歴史を完璧に覚えているわけではないし、大まかに捉えるには非常に分かりやすかったです。

Because of the context. Because Western technology was so far advanced, and the USA was so much more powerful even in 1854 compared to Japan that the leaders knew it was play ball or be blown to smithereens and still have to do as they say anyway.

@@crispinjulius5032 usa technology is basically some shit they copied from Britain and Britain's technology is some shit they copied from chinese ( gunpoweders , bombs , compass etc ) and Chinese technology is some shit they formed in alliance with India (cholas to be accurate )and Indias shit is from the mathematicians and engineers who were forced to work for the kings because of the caste system which forced one group to be using the brain ( brahmins ) one group as warriors followed by workers last slaves , but the irony is warriors forced the brahmins to advance the empire scientifically , Tamils created the wootz steel which were indeed used by Iranians to invade north India but still the south people didnt got invaded ( there are some temples that were looted by no one , padhmanadhar temple has gold and diamonds worth 1 trillion USD, which is 1/3 Indian economy, imagine all the Indian temples non looted .
