One of the many options for "freelance" drummers of the 1920's was to be a foley artist for silent movies. The drummer was responsible for all of the sound effects and filler material to bring the movie to life.

Fascinating. Love the series. Particularly interested to see if they were going to "fire" off the blanks in studio and what that would've sounded like. I noticed that the original "ad" from earlier in the video said it held .32 caliber blanks but Mr. Ludwig said later at his desk that it held .22 caliber blanks. Wonder which it was or if they offered two different models.
