Oh yeah! Totally bad ass grandad! 😎 Has anyone noticed, on the last seconds in this video (3:49 min), a bird was screeching? Sounded up like a raven 🦅. As far as I remember, Odin is often portrayed as a raven in Northern mythology. So the grandad was definitely on his way to Valhalla! Such a beautiful scene 😏😁😎

This character reminded me so much of my grandfather, a tough old farmer who survived all kinds of ridiculous wounds - from grisly chainsaw accidents, to large branches crashing down on his head while felling trees, getting his chest pinned against a tree by a tractor going DOWNHILL, etc. He had a massive but slender frame, dense wiry muscle with thick skin, hands twice as big as any of ours, and I dare say was *one* of the strongest men to walk the earth. He'd lift thick logs that a few other men working with him couldn't lift *together.* He worked harder and more productively in his 70's than most men worked in their 20's. What finally killed him wasn't a physical wound, or hardly even old age, but losing his wife of 50+ years, and not having the will to continue on any further. Family was everything to him, and he lived to provide for his wife and several kids on his homestead for several decades. He'd had a weak heart for quite a long time before he turned 80, when his wife was still alive, but still worked just as hard as ever. It was a few months after my grandmother died that his heart finally gave out, after he'd spent those months being depressed, and noticeably done with this world. When he collapsed against the bathroom sink, he broke a towel holder on the side of the sink, and was still trying to fix it up until the moment of his passing, his work ethic still intact. I've yet to become aware of a more honorable and stoic man than him, and my children and grandchildren will know of him, as well. Stories like Tostig's only make me appreciate having known a man like that more.

Your grandfather was formed in a mold very few men can measure up to. But we can all strive towards it. Doing our very best as much as we can , is really all you can demand from anyone. Long/short , Big/small , thin/thick , old/young , rich/poor , man/woman.

Would be cool to see how things were in the younger days of the previous jarls rule…. Ragnar and rollos first raids with him and ofc as you said a tostig mained series where we just happen to see our old protagonist at a much younger age… maybe we start off on when Ragnar and lagertha meet

@grumpybaztard49302 жыл бұрын
@@MrRedAdventures Only those who attack from behind are those who fear death. Cowards seek opportunity in battle. Warriors look in your eyes as they kill or die !
@stefha60622 жыл бұрын
„Cowardly attack“: in a man to man duel yes. There its about honor. But not in a battle. There you fight to survive, a battle know no rules. Thats the difference. You want to save your comrades lives and so you attack when you can. The one you fights „honorful“ in a battle is an idiot and will die fast.
@bermby Жыл бұрын
Vikings were actually known to do this kind of thing. If a battle was not favorable then they would simply escape in their long ships and attack elsewhere. They would use the cover of night to kill their enemies and were more opportunistic than the armies of Britannia.

See the problems with fighting the vikings is that you're not fighting men.. their purpouse in life is to bring honor to their ancestors in battle by pleasing the will of the gods and thus ascend to Valhalla. They spent their entire lives since the day they were born training, fighting and raiding. How do you fight a man without fear, a man that is expecting to die in battle against a worthy oponent. The thought of having to face such warriors must have been bone-chilling...

Go ask the French or the Anglo Saxons, spanked them into next week, on a real field of battle. Not raiding horseshit. Only true successors to the Vikings are the Normans. Learning and adjusting to the Christian way of things was how they expanded.

Pretty untrue but i guess it sounds good

I mean the Vikings were pretty scary but there were several opponents that regularly DUMPSTERED them in open battle. In fact, Viking tactics do the utmost to avoid open battles, instead raiding, attacking supply lines, and retreating quickly. The French and the Saxons were victimized by Viking raids but almost always crushed them in actual battles.
