Hey guys!
Welcome to the return of the 'History Of Street Fighter' Series on the channel, Its been a very long time since I had the chance to cover this prestigious series and alot has changed with the channel since then!
So with that said, today seeing as we did previously cover the iconic poster boy of the series for Street Fighter, It only felt right that we touch on another Iconic face, the ‘first lady of fighting games’, the beautiful and Chun Li.
Since her debut Chun Li has more or less been the bench mark for fem fatals In the series across all platforms, leading to many friends and many foes, but do not be distracted by her beauty or even her incredible flurry of kicks, as their is quite a beautiful yet tragic story behind her character, one of revenge, redemption and growth.
So In todays video, we will be breaking down Chun Li’s Origins, how she came to be, what are her ties to Shadoloo and Bison, and most importantly, where Is she now prior to the release of the highly anticipated Street Fighter 6?

I think Li-Fen will be a future playable character maybe she be a NPC in 6 but I do think she'll be a future DLC character since Capcom like to make partners or a protege playable.

@@nerdscore6756 I def agree with you. I think for SF6, she'll be an NPC to help with Chun's area in World Tour mode, as well as her story. Plus, she still looks a little too young to be a playable fighter. But I def see her being playable in the future, say like an SF7 in they decide to timeskip again. I think as Chun-Li is becoming more of a complex character (with her having a stance in SF6), Li-Fen may play similar to Chun, but a lot more simplified moveset.

@@starswordsman Li-Fen a teenager I think the story takes place 5 or so years after Street Fighter III but if she not playable she most likely will be playable in 7 but we had child playable characters in Street Fighter already in EX. But yeah most fans believe she'll be playable but whether she's not as NPC she most likely will be I actually would like to see how much Chun-Li trained her probably doing a mini Kikoken lol.

I love Chun-Li rivalry with Juri they are basically the same but one is good and the other is bad their rivalry similar to Kitana and Mileena rivalry from Mortal Kombat.

Juri isn't "bad", she's an anti-hero. Both suffered tragic losses of their fathers at the hands of Dictator. They just went about revenge/justice differently. Juri, now, actually is a fan of Chun and enjoys their rivalry. Hence her imitating Chun and adopting, literally, some of Chun's techniques into her style in 6. Chun x Juri are rivals who respect each other, not enemies.

This is still so interesting to learn for me, mostly because I'm still new to Street Fighter, but your narration of the timeline of the series, as to in-depth analysis of each of the characters is a plus for me, I'm grateful for it, and am stoked for playing for the first time; when it comes out, Street Fighter 6. So thank you so much for this! Plus, if it's not too much trouble, I was wondering if you could focus on in your next Street Fighter video about M. Bison? Mostly cuz he looks so cool to me, and he uses Psychic powers!

3:37 If you think about it Chun Li could have become like Juri had things been different. They both had parents killed by Bison but while Chun Li gave up on revenge Juri played Bison and Seth hoping they'd kill each other.

Fantastic video and bio of Chun-Li, with just a few inaccuracies within the vid, but overall a good presentation and the dramatic dialogue makes her story sound more interesting, and definitely paints her as the Street Fighter protagonist that she always was meant to be. Some Inaccuracies/errors include: - HBTW says that Chun-Li resided in Hong-Kong, though her SF2 flag states she's from China, whilst Fei Long hails from Hong Kong. Chun-Li in the SFII V animated series does reside in Hong Kong, according to the wiki, but canonically, she's from China. - Chun-Li was influenced by BOTH Bruce Lee (film) AND Peking Opera (theatre), video states that she's was inspired by Bruce Lee's movie: "Peking Opera" - Doesn't mention any part of Chun-Li's or C. Viper's Aftermath story - Not really an error, but def spent way more focus than there should be when he talked about SF Ties that Bind. Chun-Li's involvement was as significant, and he talks way more about what happened with Ryu - HBTW mispronounces Li-Fen's name, calling her by the DOA Chinese fighter "Leifang" - I know there isn't a lot of SF6 story to go off on, but I think he also could've mentioned a little bit of Chun-Li's SF6 bio, where she is a beloved member of her community, and her kung fu classes are now open to students of all ages (as seen in the World Tour trailer). But I thought it was a greatvideo, definitely made Chun-Li's story more interesting, and the video does work in that it paints Chun-Li as if she was the main protagonist of the story. The video does show that she does indeed go through an arc, finally making a transition at the end of her revenge journey.

Seriously though, Chun Li is one of the original legendary females to break into the cultural radar with CAPCOM's Street Fighter 2! She would develop a strange and sick antagonism with "Juri" a starry demented female who loves... Korean Tae Kwon Do.

Chun Li has always been a favourite. She is the focus character of the SF2 pinball game and she appears in all games. I just wish she would wear pants a bit more often. What surprises me is that her story doesn’t tie into Vega nearly as much as I thought it would. Their fight in the AWESOME animated movie not withstanding, they do seem to be paired up against each other quite often. My choices for next characters are Vega, Fei Long and Dhalsim. I appreciate they tend to be side characters with little impact on the main story, so I’ll understand if they aren’t at the top of your list. Frankly, I think Fei Long deserves more screen time.

Yeah street Fighter 6 says that chun li is former interpol so after 3 she decided to quit her police job I figured they would have had kept her like in sf3 still doing her police job while still training the kids edit it turns out she is on sabbatical and is promoted to director of special investigations

One of Chun-Li win quotes to Ryu in 6 is her saying something like after all these years she thinks he made her be more stronger also one of Ryu win quote to Chun-Li he said she fought by his side for so many years there is definitely potential in being lovers between them and Chun-Li have a Ryu poster in her room shown in her Street Fighter V arcade story.

Yeah I think Capcom was going to make them a item I remember Chun-Li was one of the main people Ryu remembered in his Alpha 3 ending that purged the Dark Hado from within him and there is so many pictures Capcom made of Chun-Li and Ryu being lovey dovey and more than friends.
