My name is Brian Fitzgerald - I'm an Australian full time golf coach living in Melbourne and coaching at the Eastwood Golf Club in Kilsyth..
FAQ:
How long have you been a golf coach? I qualified as a full member of the Australian PGA back in 1985. Wow I don't feel that old.
Why do you make videos for KZfaq? That is a great question and one I get asked a lot. I love helping people play better golf and people tell me I have a very unique coaching style that is very simple to understand. We really should do things simpler. I just make them to help people and if people like my videos they can either come for a golf lesson in person or if that is not possible you could join my membership program and I can then view your golf swing or any part of your game and really help improve what you do.
Do you always change some ones golf swing? To be perfectly honest I try not to. If I do try to change some ones golf swing I have to have a pretty good reason for doing so and the client has to be fully engaged and committed to both regular coaching and practice in order to make that change. Most people say they will do both with good intentions but most fall away pretty quickly.
So my preference is to change things that will improve their score easily. There are so many different ways to do this.
What do you film with? - I have a few few different cameras I use. An old GoPro Hero 4, an iPhone 6 and iPhone X, A Sony ZV1 and an old Panasonic Handy cam (I'm using that less and less now). I record my sound on an old iPhone 4.
What do you edit with? - About a year ago I switched to Adobe Premiere - prior to that it was Pinnacle Studio
Do you make money off KZfaq? - Yes.It took me over 100 videos to make my first total $100 off adsense and then another 50 videos to make my next $100. I think it will slowly change, but VERY slowly.
I really enjoy your videos, how can I support you? - Here's my ko-fi where you can buy me a coffee, beer or a burger should you wish (kind of like giving me a tip via : ko-fi.com/thegolfdoctor
Thanks for watching!
Brian

Dear Golf Doctor, I am happy to give you feedback following application of Tips #1 & #2 on Good Friday. Playing off hcp 14, I shot 81 in a MP against hcp 8 and won 4&2. Squaring my shoulder ensured 10 GIR, 10 Pars and 1 birdie. Thank you Brian. Best, Maurice.

Such easy to remember tips! In my younger golf days I used to get way too much lateral movement with my driver -- and could be really good at hitting the ball sky-high (even had a couple of scuff marks off the TOP of the head of the club, albeit in the days long before the current 460CC sized behemoths). Definitely was out of that kinetic sequence back then.

Thanks Dean. Back in the day we used to call those scuff marks on the old wooden drivers GT Stripes.

Maintenant tu as quelque chose à travailler sur Marc. Même si vous n’arrivez pas à produire du « top spin » comme vous l’appelez. Moins de spin en produira plus. Amusez-vous à le mettre en pratique. Brian

Thanks again Brian. I was told that first tip a while ago but forgot. It’s killed my game over the past 4 years. Going along well and then the poor drive (high right mostly) and score gone. I’ll go back to it again. Thanks for all your hard work and keep it up. The tips help us all. Peter

Thanks Peter I am glad you are enjoying my content. I make videos for normal every golfers and hackers (they are the people I coach). As my coach said to me when I was younger. You will spend half your time learning the basics and the other half of the time forgetting them. Good luck with sorting your shoulders out. Thanks for watching. Brian

Excellent job explaining the three things needed to hit better drives. Aaron Baddaley is a prime example of your first suggestion (bad shoulder/feet position). At the Valspar, they were showing his shoulders and feet were misaligned. On tee focus rather than ball focus, that's different. My tee comes out most of the time, but sometime they're broken. Swing tempo is always important. I try to have the same going back as coming through! Well Done Brian!

I did't wtach any of the Valspar so I was unaware of that John. It is without any doubt the most common driving fault I see at every level of golf. Breaking the tee is a good sign as it means your driver is hitting the tee. Play around with a slightly faster back swing tempo. It may surprise you. Brian

I have been going to a chiropractor to loosen up my hips so I can speed up my swing a little and come through the ball a little more aggressively! Thanks Brian for the help!@@fitzygolfpro

Brian I play with a very strong grip I always have every club slightly open to compensate for it have you any other tips for using the strong grip . I've tried weakining my grip but just can't do it no matter what I've tried moving a little bit at a time but it just doesn't work cheers in advance

I am really reluctant to advise you on a grip change without being able to see you swing or know what your predominant shot shape and tendencies John. I don’t want to give you bad advice.

@@fitzygolfpro I'm in Scotland so it'd be hard to show you Brian but my usual shot is I aim slightly right and have about a 2 to5 yard draw occasionally a pull straight left I also have to use a white castle tee for driver if I use a pink castle I normally come under it and sky the ball . Opening the face slightly counteracts this but I still come under more than I like
