Thanks for the thorough walkthrough. I just bought my first exact hitachi model nailer. You are a great teacher. What would be awesome is to include a video to show how to unjam if others have problems. I know you will not because I did exactly as you and bought Hitachi nails. Thanks for being a constructive teacher to many, to include myself.💯👍👍👍😉

I applaud your zeal for safety and I have experienced the shooting of a smaller 23 gauge pin nail into my finger. fortuneately it was not very deep and only bled a little but a bandaid was sufficient. I have both the 23 gauge pin nailer and an 18 gauge nailer but the 18 gauge nailer quit firing after only about 10 or 12 nails. That's how I discovered your video; I am looking to find how to troubleshoot these devices.

ps in case anyone didn't know the hitachi compressor gets to the psi set, then shuts off. i thought my compressor was broken but it just stops until youve nailed a lot, and then the pressure drops and turns back on again. @pmtips4482
@pmtips4482 4 жыл бұрын
Hi mcleod55, and thank you for watching and commenting!! Yes sir I am still satisfied! It is one of the most useful tools I have ever purchased and regret not going to it years ago. Up until buying the Hitachi 16 ga, I was still installing baseboards with a hammer and punch. After buying and using the Hitachi, I felt like a fool for waiting so long to grab one. I just bought the Metabo HPT 23 ga pin nailer and it is awesome too. Very light and a very small pin hole is left and very hard to see with the naked eye. Metabo HPT (Hitachi Power Tools) (my copy and paste:) Hitachi Power Tools will be known as Metabo HPT from starting October 17th, 2018 as the company transitions away from the rest of the Hitachi group. Back in 2017, Hitachi bought out Metabo to bring the German manufacturer on board. Shortly after, investment firm KKR purchased the power tool division of Hitachi.

I just got the same gun only the metabo version, I also had the 15 gauge Hitachi, I found out on the firing mode that you can do a single fire on either setting, but if you do a single fire on the bump fire mode it will sometimes shoot a double shot, 2 nails right next to each other, its because of the recoil, so pick the fire mode you want, either bump fire or single, dont shoot a single fire, when its in bump fire mode or you might get a double fire, also the rubber bumper will cause the nail to not go as deep, if you want it to go deeper, so you can fill with putty, you can take the rubber piece off, just twist it, it will come right off, you can put it in your pocket, I was a painter for 40 years and would hate when the nail was flush, you see if you stain the wood, and shoot clear on it you will see the shiny nail, and it looks bad, I would have to carry a nail set around with me to set the nail, I would then find the carpenter and complain to him and tell him the problem so he could set his depth deeper, in his case it was a wore out gun
@pmtips4482
@pmtips4482 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Ken, thank you very much for the information! I have noticed some guns will recoil more than others too, depending on sizing. I can see a double happening easy, especially on guns with a short trigger reset. As you say, some settings are better suited for single fire than others. Thanks again! Stay safe!!

I'm looking for this exact gun I got the same one and needing a new one. I've looked through amazon and they just show the new named Hitachi (METABO) Only problem with the new ones is that they are mostly all plastic feel cheap and most of the reviews are bad. I use my tools every day 365 of the year. I take care of them but they do take a beating. I know what I've used and dont really trust the newer cheaper stuff. Hi Mark! You are spot on, a knot will divert the nail. How do I go about oiling the nailer ?
@pmtips4482
@pmtips4482 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Dimitri, in both my Hitachi manuals it states to put in 5 to 10 drops of oil daily. After you get on to it, you can tell how much to use based on your tool use. A light day would be 3 to 5 drops, as any more will result in oily discharge during operation. The oil is dropped in the air hose coupler on the nailer itself. Thanks and work safe!

@@pmtips4482 just trying to help my friend. I had bought some air tools and a compressor a few years back and kept having problems with my heavy duty impact not being able to break lug nuts loose got angry and bought anouther better impact and the same thing was happening and even with my air wrench finally I started researching (which I should have done to start with) and found two major things I had wrong. 1) get a larger diameter hose because the that came with was not passing enough air to operate the tool effectively. 2) turn air pressure to between 60 and 90 psi depending on the tool. Now my air tools work really well and no more frustration. HOOAAH I wish someone would have told me sooner but also I should have checked. God bless

I'm sorry to hear that Armchair warrior. If you get another make sure to use the proper oil required. If you do over oil it, the excess oil will blow out through the air valve exit hole (to manually blow off dust, etc.) but it will also come out slowly around the trigger mechanism where the valving is located.
