Жыл бұрынIn this video, I try hitchhiking in Indonesia! Today we are heading to Jember to see Ibnu and his mother for Independence Day here in Indonesia. I spent Merdeka day in Bali last year so I knew I had to go somewhere different. It's been a few months since I was last in Jember so I thought it would be a great time to go see Ibnu. To get there I took a night bus from Bali, but once again it was super uncomfortable and I was stuffed in the back of a car. So, I booked a hotel in Banyuwangi and got off there. I was so happy I did. I got a good night's sleep and the trip to Jember was so much more pleasant. I got to ride on a train that was airconditioned. I got to take in the beautiful nature and scenery. It was so much better than riding in the dark and being stuck on a bus. From Jember though I needed to figure out a way to get to Bagorejo village and Ibnu's house. Jember is frigging huge. Ibnu lives in Jember but he's on the outskirts of the city. It's about 50 minutes from his house to the center of Jember. I was able to catch an angkot that took me a part of the way. From there I just went to the main road and stuck my Indonesian flag out with my thumb and hoped for the bests. Luckily, it only took a couple minutes before somebody stopped to ask me what I was doing. Once we figured everything out, Christopher agreed to take me to his village that was along the way. In the car though, he said his 2-year-old daughter would be happy to meet me so I agreed to stop by his house. I'm glad we did, it was an interesting place that had a Buddhist temple built into the side of his house. Christopher then said he and his wife would take me all the way to Bagorejo. Such nice people! I then made it safely to Ibnu's house where I surprised him and his mom. They didn't know I was coming so the greeting was pretty great.

Gedung atau rumah tua yang Anda lihat didepan setasiun kereta api itu, sebelah nya dulu adalah tempat tinggal keluarga kami. Perumahan bagi pegawai kereta api. Bangunan kokoh dan kuat tinggalan orang-orang belanda. Rumah itu dulu dipakai untuk mess (asrama) untuk karyawan kereta api. Sekarang sudah dikelola kembali oleh PT. KAI.

Any similar+old style buildings which close to train station must be owned by Indonesian Train Company. Those houses/ buildings are official residence's for their staffs at certain paygrade. Your can easily find them in every train station

The key is one: you may have to be more fluent in Indonesian to be safe and secure until the destination you are looking for 👍🏻. It might look fun for a solo traveler like you, hitchhiking from one vehicle to another (as long as it's in the same direction as the destination), but it's also risky. Yeah, I know maybe in Indonesia it will be safe because the people are friendly and helpful.

Jujur. Episode ini seru banget. Mulai dari dianter ke stasiun, terus di kereta mau ke Jember dibilang sama penumpang lain orang Canggu (sumpah ini gue ketawa sih) ekspresi Nick kayak ga terima dibilang gitu 🤣🤣🤣 terus ngobrol sama anak SD di angkot dan anak SDnya juga responsive. Ketemu Kristofer yang baikk hati dan akhirnyaaa ketemu Ibnu serta mamaa~ Ga berasa 38 menitan ini
