Merry Christmas Nigel. Watching you show the work both what worked and didn’t is truly appreciated. I find your channel the best for me as you walk us through the process, showing all the detail, not a video of essentially a completed model that does not teach me how to do it. Thank you. Hope Santa brought you and Jess great presents.

Watching you go through this video reminds me of my own similar experience about 9 months ago , also on an A-20G, however, this was the AMT 48th scale kit. I wanted to add detail to the turret and ended up using the PE bullets from Eduard because I could not get the GasPatch rounds to bend even further around the smaller "gears" on my turret (which in reality were simply punched out disks painted to look like gears). I used the kit breeches but added after market barrels. Additionally, I stuffed a gunner in there! Needless to say, it was very difficult. And when I glued on the cover, one of the PE belts broke loose and fell into the plane! Ah well! I tried. Anyway, I can certainly appreciate what you were going through.

The switches were the triggers for when the guns were mounted in the wings or used remotely. Believe it or not they are still used today in some gun configurations. The little bit of plastic on the breach were rond stops to properly seat round over the bolt and slot. When guns were configured for right and left hand feed it would be on opposite sides.

Hi Nige! You were talking about the glazing and not wanting to use white glue. Have you ever thought of using the UV glue? That seems to be a game changer in the modeling world lately. Even a ship builder you recommended a little while back used it for quite a bit of photoetch work. Just a thought. Looking nice and I did order that little gas patch plane for a Christmas gift to me!😬

Incredible amount of work to get where you are. My compliments in sticking with it instead of using something you weren't satisfied with or didn't meet your standards. again I will say this has become when of my favorite Nigel builds and it has to do with a comment you made in passing. I will and never have posted a bad or critical comment on any build by any builder - but - I do get frustrated watching someone spend time in detailing something and then jumping to a completed portion of the build and being left saying "huh" how did he get there. The how to is why i watch -

Just went through the same senior with Takom ah64e step 4 even had your video pulled up. And still spent a day. Getting it done. Have two of these kits. The next one will be a lot easier. Thanks again!

Will anyone really see this level of detail once the model is assembled?

Nigel, would they flex better if you warmed them up in "hot" water first, and put them over a form before they cool?
@NigelsModellingBench
@NigelsModellingBench 8 ай бұрын
Isn't that exactly what I did? Because of the low mass, you have a few seconds to work with them.

@@NigelsModellingBench it's the same with resin figures, sometimes the feet don't stand in the same plain etc. so they need a little adjustment. Some advise to using a heat gun or fan heater, but on small/fine parts that is too much- "ask me why I know" to quote a Nigel-ism

@@NigelsModellingBench no, that was the trigger mechanism, the charging handle would be off to one side, that a person would pull toward them to chamber a round.

@@NigelsModellingBench if you look at “44;25”. And on, it is a lovely browning machine gun, with a separate upper receiver plate, some ammo. But no charging handle, which if it had one would be just below the front of the upper receiver plate.
